Hetalia 10th Anniversary!

Hetalia is now 10 years old! (it's already the 6th in Japan)
Ten years ago, on July 6, 2006, Himaruya posted the first chapter (JP | EN) of the Hetalia webcomic on Kitayume.
Hetalia has gone from a simple webcomic to a published manga and an anime series that has spread in popularity! Currently Hetalia is now Hetalia World Stars and is published online in Shonen Jump Plus (EN).

Knew it since mid-2008, started watching the anime in January of 2009 and entered the fandom in April 2010.
What attracted you to Hetalia?
The controversy, initially I just wanted to see what is so wrong with it. Nowadays, it's more about interpretation and the future. How people view history and the potential one can have with the story, the options are endless.
Which strip/episode is your favorite?
The draft strip about the death of Holy Roman Empire and the other one about Prussia. I say draft because we still haven't seen what it is : )
Has Hetalia influenced your life in some way?
My university degree would not have been Political Science had I not known Hetalia. So basically my life and and my career.
Who are your favorite characters?
Rare characters, like Australia and New Zealand, or dormant characters like Thailand and Vietnam.

How long have you been in fandom?
Since Spring of 2009. I think I had heard of it earlier, but it wasn't until a friend of mine recommended it when the anime was released that I really checked it out.
What attracted you to Hetalia?
The characters! They're really fun and quirky. I do love the little tidbits of random history, rumors and other bits of info. It's helped me learn a bit more about the world.
Which strip/episode is your favorite?
The Sea Turtles strip ruined me lol Also like the "In two minutes you can understand"... well, Spain and Romano stuff basically. I'm shameless. Also really love the World Stars chapters about Belgium and "A Dog of Flanders".
Has Hetalia influenced your life in some way?
Aside from all the time I've put into websites...It's helped me make some pretty awesome friends from all over the world and within my own city. It's helped to get me more interested in international topics as well.Who are your favorite characters?
Totally Spain and Romano. I really like Hong Kong and France too. It's hard to choose, because there are a lot that I like.

* The funny.
* The episode where America is telling the guy that just asked him if that was supposed to be a secret and America goes 'It sure was.' ALSO The part where Prussia says 'suck it losers' and does the broom guitar thing.
* Yep, I laugh whenever someday makes a comment about the world or history as I imagine Hetalia characters in the situations.
* Germany, America, and Prussia.

Now to the questions! \o/
- First contact something between late 2009 and early 2010. I delayed it because I was into another series back then, OP, I think. I returned and got into Hetalia around April 2010 and fully caught into the fandom during that summer's World Cup.
- I love the very unique capability of the author to insert fluff and yaoi hints everywhere, even in the most improbable situations! I'm aware that it's even something that makes him unpopular, but still I can't deny I admire this thing of him a lot.
- The Chibitalia flashback/story (and its connections to the more recent events) feeds my childish love for angsty romance. I hope this subject will get more developments.
- In the same way other users already said, Hetalia allowed me to get in contact with the greatest variety of people and cultures in the world and in my country. That was by forever one of my bigger dreams.
- Germany, Italy, USA, UK, Sealand, Prussia.
So, Happy Birthday Hetalia as well, and thanks for organizing this post! :D

I haven't used LJ in so long, everything is different *feels ancient* I remember how back in this comm's heyday, there would be at least 10 pages of posts everyday, and I would check every single day. There was so much traffic it become a problem and mods had to limit posts and whatnot. The current fandom has moved on to tumblr, but I'm glad this comm still exists because there are so much content here that I still go back to and it's always nice to see new posts.
sorry I just got abit sentimentalThis community made the fandom great and I'll always be thankful for that.
