Update discussion thread

As suggested, this thread is for discussing official updates of any kind. It was created so that we can write our reactions and theories as soon as possible after an updates appears, without having to wait until it is translated or posted separately.

For now, I will put links to the updates into the original post as soon as I find them, but you can also post your own links when I'm not around.

Even though they are both very healthy and fit apparently America weighs Super Mega Jumbo and Germany weighs 800+ pounds! I think Alfred needs a new scale!

don't blame the scale. America has been overweight for a long time, if not always. ;)
As for Germany, I don't know what's up with the 8 - maybe nations' weight is just different from normal people?

Alfred has never been overweight. Hima even says so in his bio. America is insecure about his weight but it is actually muscle he is gaining.

He is shown becoming concerned about his weight in the strip Supersize You! and it is mentioned that he has invented strange diet machines as well as becoming obsessed with exercise (which has caused him to become paranoid about his rising weight, as he is unaware of his building muscle). There are more descriptions about his weight but I am too tired to find them. Essesntually Hima says Alfred has the body of a school Jock.

In short: He has never been overweight. That is a fandom thing.

I suggest you read the actual comics instead of relying on other people's descriptions of it. http://www.hetarchive.net/scanlations/nonlinear.php?diet. He is overweight and was even depicted as chubby on a few occasions.
Also note the last sentence in the picture you just posted. He's telling himself his weight is fine. Just like how an alcoholic might tell himself he can quit anytime.
It's true that he's strong and has muscles too, he's just both. Overweight as well as strong.

Muscle weighs more than fat. That is why his weight is increasing.

Ask jammerlea if you don't believe me. She has a very good memory and might remember the exact (other) comics stating his weight problem.
I already pointed out two instances to you (or rather, corrected them both from your previous post), and the only other I remember off the top of my head is from a printed manga, so unfortunately I can't link you to it.
You seem to have a general problem reading hints, could that be? I know from discussion somewhere else that quite a few people do have problems with that, so if you're one of them, it's okay. But if that's the case, it's kinda pointless to point you toward anything less than very obvious and unambiguous proof, which is hard to find about anything in Hetalia because most of everything is only hinted at.
(I'm not trying to insult you, seriously, I just notice that you seem to keep missing the point in things and I really don't know how I should approach you. If it's that you can't read hints, I'd treat you differently from someone who is new and uninformed, someone who is too enthusiastic to process what they read, someone who doesn't do their research, or someone who's just trolling.)

I don't read hints, only facts. You are showing things that make him think he is over weight. I showed you a direct quote from Hima stating it is muscle. So think what you what, and I will think what I want.

Okay, I'll regard you as "just trolling" then, since you obviously didn't read my full reply to your initial post and show no interest in learning. Thanks for clarifying.

Hi, just a lurker passing by.
8-something might be supposed to be around 80 kilograms. A normal weight for a tall and muscular man.
It's weird since it's America's scale, but the main audience is japanese so...

Ah, of course, that makes sense. Why didn't I think of that?
