Should the BFT/BTT be renamed?
I was reminded of this earlier today and thought it might be a good topic to discuss here, as we are still attempting to revive the comm.
So. Bad friends trio. For those of you not knowing what that is, it's one of two common terms for France, Prussia and Spain. It is also the official name for the three.
Anyway, the other common name, and the one I see more often in fanworks, is bad touch trio. This has caused some controversy because, well, it supposedly refers to the three of them being perverts. More precisely, it may or may not refer to them molesting people (and even more precisely, in Spain's case, some people point to this choice of words to claim... things. Don't even make me say it - if you don't already know what I mean, you don't want to know x.x).
So a fellow member from another comm had the idea that instead of bad touch trio (BTT), it would be better to call them big brother trio (BBT). And I really like this idea, because it doesn't have any twisted meanings and it just fits nicely. Of course, Spain referred to himself as Romano's boss rather than his big brother, but the way he interacts with him is close enough in my opinion. What do you say? Do you agree or disagree, and for what reason? Should everyone just stick with the official name and drop the substiture terming altogether? Do you have other ideas for a good name?

BIG BROTHER TRIO SOUNDS EPIC AS HECK!

I do like the big brother trio, but I would stick with BBT because its already been integrated into the fandom.
I mean if it becomes popular within the fandom, than we should definitely use it because to say those characters are perverted is really inaccurate and gives others (like newer hetalians) the wrong idea of the characters.
Bad touch trio also rolls off the tongue nicely, in my opinion, opposed to BBT of BFT.
So I guess we should keep the old terminology, but let the fandom know how it doesn't fit well. I agree that Spain, France, and Prussia are "the party animals" but not perverted.
I'll go away now.

I too didn't get the implication of the original fan name until I learnt how many read it that way. I just think if it's possible to change it, it would be easier to avoid controversy (and to distinguish fans with one interpretation from fans with the other).
Why go away? You provided a perfectly valid opinion.

I think BFT is a good term for them because it seems they like to spend time together playing tricks and talking about irrelevant stuff, so, at least for me, when people refers to them as the Bad Friends Trio it sounds more like "oh here comes those 3 fools!" than "omg here comes those bad guys!".
And talking about a brothers trio, it's not so popular, but looks like there's a "Fail Brothers Trio" formed by Prussia, England and Denmark!

Truly!

Don't see any reason to change it. It is what they are :D I never saw anything related to Spain raping anyone...

Big Brothers, because other characters aren't included in the group.
Many Japanese fans simply call them the Bad Friends Trio and I'm happy with that, I personally love it, it makes them the fun loving Three Stooges kind of characters that we all know, love, and associate them with.
Thanks for bringing up this discussion! I'm glad someone finally called attention to it!

I like to think of them as a couple of stereotypical frat boys who want to be thought of as more badass than they are. ;p
I really don't think it should be changed as that just leads to confusion as there's so many trios as it is & by changing their name, it makes it seem like there's now another one. XD *this is from someone who when new to the fandom had a hard time figuring out the pairing names at first*
