Does Russians hacking an internet website remind you guys of anything else that happened on here? Or am I thinking of something else?

Wait, so that weird stuff that was happening on LJ was Russian hackers? I thought it was technical difficulties.

I don't think it was Russian hackers. Plus it was long ago, if I recall, when people online started blaming Russians for the hacking. It was more of an in-joke of that certain event on the Internet that people were afraid of these 'hackers'.

It wasn't really hacking, it was a DDoS attack that aimed to overload the servers, and it was connected to Russian politics (especially the elections), the fact that LJ is Russia's largest blogging platform, and the social circles that had emerged in LJ. It also had a lot to do with trying to silence Russian LJ users who used their journals to speak out about corruption in the Russian government and so on. I think the Russian hackings were in late 2011/early 2012(?) when Putin's election was going on. I remember they're were talking a lot on the radio about how the Russians were pissed and claiming the election was rigged.

I know. There might be times you have to put only your birthday to be 18 and over to view it. But for the most part, you need to have an account there with the right age to view it.
