For once I can be helpful to the fandom, I’m not going to miss this opportunity ^^
With thanks to dubtalia_ap for the song. The French is surprisingly very good! They sure put a lot of efforts into it. However the Japanese accent was a bit hard to understand in one or two lines so I can’t guarantee that my transcription is 100% accurate, sorry :( But I did my best!

The lyrics for it all does seem to fit so well when the soldier's wife began to explain how bad it can actually be to live forever.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting that it would be so pretty and fitting! I didn't understand the lyrics during the episode because the soldier's wife was talking at the same time, so I'm glad it was released independently, where it can be properly appreciated <3

Ah, I'm fluent in french (learning since age 5), but as I'm not native I could easily be wrong.
"Si tu retires de tout" is more like "If you withdraw FROM everything" isn't it?

Not translation related, but the lyrics about "toupie de charme" make me think the writers were trying for 'lucky' spinning top, instead of charming xD
But yeah amazingly accurate transcription and translation :D Thanks for this!

It could be! Honestly I had a lot of trouble with this line XD If it makes more sense with "from", I'm ok with editing.

Like the spinning top would be a lucky charm? I like this idea, but it wouldn't work with the way it's worded in French, sadly. I think the writers meant "charme" in the double meaning of enchantment (like a magic that raptures you) and appeal/pleasure.

Ok, I thought about this overnight and I think that "if you withdraw from everything" would have been "si tu TE retires de tout", and the singer is definitely not saying that. So I kept it the way it was...

Mm, after texting my french friend, the verdict I got was this:

Si tu retires tout= If you withdraw everything
Si tu retires de tout= If you withdraw from everything
Si tu te retires de tout= If you withdraw yourself from everything

It's up to you if you wanna leave it the way it is, of course :3 But it is his native language. He says the lyrics themselves are odd in some places, but your translations were perfect even if the original lyrics are a bit strange <3

Thank you! I was wondering what the background music was about while the solider's wife was talking. The song has a sad tone, with the lyrics implying that someone, like a friend or love one, shall depart but their memories shall remain.

With the original webcomic strip the episode based on called “Though I May Depart, You Shall Remain", it is just a stab right at the heart there.

I know. I originaly didn't like France because of his perverted nature of his. With that episode, it taught me another side of his, it filled me with sorrow but the ending song just messed up the mood.
