January BIRZ

Already posted onto Tumblr for those there, but there were no Hetalia strips in the January issue. Just pictures of the new character art concepts. Better versions than in the magazine are already out there.

Do you know if they're discontinuing the Hetalia strips or if they felt that the concept art was enough for that issue and will post new strips in the next issue?

Probably not discontinuing, this happened before.
It's confirmed the next edition will have hetalia on its cover
As much as I don't know about "if concept arts are enough", but no, no discontinuation, sorry

I thought it might signify a Christmas event as well when I heard about this, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much, lest they be dashed.

He should, I mean, it's annual right? ^^; I've never actually been to a hetalia event before though...

It's a bit of an annual tradition, yes, but this past year's Christmas event was never completed due to Hima becoming sick and then because of his being busy working on the Birz chapters. Due to that fact, I'm a little hesitant to start hoping until and unless there's an official announcement.

That's a good point. I guess his boss could be worried about his health, and could be hesitant as well.
I'll just keep on wishing. xD

Don't forget he missed Halloween and April Fools this year so it's quite possible he doesn't do the Christmas event.

That could be true. But with the anime and birz coming out, I guess it will make up for it.
Besides, I'm sure he'l do one again eventually.
