[cosplay] Ghost-Pirate!Norway

Here are pictures from my cosplay of Ghost-Pirate!Norway from HamaCon this weekend. The costume won Best Journeyman (though I entered as Novice since it's only the second cosplay I've sewn).

Sorry for the lack of quality in the pictures. I only got one on my camera and the other was from someone on Facebook. I will have this professionally photographed at some point, though it may be a while.

Feel free to comment or message me on lj if you have any questions about the cosplay. I'd love to help out if anyone else is going to make this cosplay. I know how daunting it is with only one canon reference picture!

For those interested, the coat was made out of velvet and lined with peachskin. The vest and cuffs were fake dupioni (spent all my money on raw silk on Viking Norway so couldn't afford real silk this time) and lined with peachskin. The hat is felt that has been stiffened with a glue mixture, and the belt was Sintra pieces cut and stacked and then attached to a chain.

Also, at one point on Sunday I saw a Belarus cosplayer who had a bunch of flags (I guess she was holding them for her friends) and they were flat out lying on the ground, so I politely asked her not to do that again and she looked at me like she had no idea that flags weren't supposed to be on the ground. Anyone else had this problem recently? I don't know if she was new to fandom or just clueless (either way, it still looks bad for fandom). And apparently the Homestuck cosplayers had been saying nasty things to other Hetalia cosplayers, though I never was spoken to by one of them. So at least at HamaCon, the fandom war seems to still be going on *sigh* But aside from that and being violently glomped on Sunday by someone I didn't even know, the con was fairly good. Small, but fun.

For your second handmade costume, that looks pretty darn good!

Ahh I love that coat~
Nice job!

As for the part about the Belarus cosplayer, a lot of Hetalia fans aren't aware of flag etiquette, unfortunately. My area had a group that would hold panels to inform people of things such as this, but they stopped at the last con I went to for some reason.
