Her simple question weighed his heart, making it hard to beat an indifferent rhythm.
“Sorry Vi. I gotta run. Nice seeing you again.”
Her eyelashes fluttered, as she demurely looked to the ground, saying nothing more than a ‘yes…’.
“Well... see ya later.”
Back bending in a deep bow, her hair fell over her eyes, as if to never see or look at his face.
“…Goodbye…”
He ran away into the streets slick with a rain that had washed away the disguise of things concealed. Away from the secrets he left behind and could not make true.
