Something i want to know, who is your favorite couples for your own country, and the couples you dislike the most for your country too.

I'm french, and my favorite couples for France are Scotland/france, for their auld alliance, and Turkey/France, for their impious alliance.

I not very like France/England as something more than just friends. I love see them fighting for nothing, but i can see any love between them, it's historically inaccurate.

And all incest couples, for france and others, i hate it.

I'm from Finland, and I don't actively ship him with anyone. I also don't dislike any Finland pairings. I just don't really care about him as a character, so as far as I'm concerned, he can be with absolutely anyone.

If I'm reading fanfiction and see him paired with someone I like, then I usually give it a chance. However, the vast majority of the fics about Finland pair him with Sweden, and I'm completely neutral about him as well, so I very rarely end up reading these stories.

I'm American, and I like America with England, and sometimes with Lithuania (though I usually like America and Leit as just friends, the pairing is ok, too).

I don't care for RussiaxAmerica. I can kind of understand where it comes from, but fandom has kind of ruined Russia's character for me to be honest, and I usually don't like dark, mind-screwy couples in general. I also don't care for AmericaxCanada because of the incest thing (yeah, I know USUK could be considered incest, but I don't really for various reasons), and I prefer Canada with Cuba.

Im partially turkish but i dont really ship him with anyone, i like the relationship between him and greece so i love seeing them interact- but as frenemies and not as a couple.

I dont mind things like turkey/iceland or turkey/france but i generally just like seeing him interact with other countries in the series. :)

I'm American and I ship America only with England. Honestly, it's the only pairing for America that I can take seriously.
I don't like him with Canada because I don't like incest and having a healthy relationship with his brother makes him more well rounded.
I can understand Russia/America, but honestly, I cannot picture them loving each other and that's not what I want from a pairing. I'm also a history buff and I basically hate it when people call the cold war "sexual tension".
Those two are the only pairings that I actively dislike.

As an American, I'm all for everyone and everything in the world lovin' up on the character. No bromance/pairing/triad/grouping is wrong in my eyes as long as it's not a definite non-con situation. That's pretty much the only place I draw the line.

Out of all the possible permutations, I think either America or fem!America with England, Canada or Lithuania make my steely cold heart melt the most.

I'm Australian, and I quite like America/Australia. Our countries do have awesome relations after all! Aus/NZ squicks me out a bit though. It's hard to say for Aus, having so little screen time. Aus/China/Greece/Italy/Romano/Turkey/India/England/Aus make sense too though. Multiculturalism, ftw!

I'm Italian and my OTP for Noth Italy is definitely GerIta~ I don't mind shipping him with France as well, even though I see that only as something that happened after HRE disappeared and before Germany appeared.
As for South Italy, my OTP is Spamano, and Spain is the only one I really ship Romano with, although I like the idea of Romano/Belgium too.
There are no couples I really dislike with them, especially because Italy as a country had many misadventures/adventures with a lot of other countries, so I can perfectly see the point of Itapan, or Amerimano, or PruIta just to mention a few.
As for personal taste, I don't ship incests, so no Itacest for me - I can see them only in a brotherly relationship.

I'm spanish and I have to admit that I ship my country with every single character XD. My top five for him is Romano, Belgium, England, France and Netherlands. But if I have to choose I would pick SpainxRomano (my fav ever) and SpainxBelgium.

The only pairings I dislike with him being involved is... RomexSpain (I like to think that they have a dad-son type of relationship) and SpainxCatalonia (OCs) I don't think it's accurate at all.

I'm English. My favourite pairing, hands down, is England with America because of their history, both real and in canon, which means they have everything from heartbreaking angst to best pals rivalry. I could happily read just that pairing if I had to make a choice. I'm also partial to England with France because of the love/hate thing going on (we English love French food, fashion, culture, the beautiful countryside, Paris, cheeses, wine...yet throughout history we've fought oh so many times on opposite sides). For bromance I enjoy England with Canada. Honestly, I'd read any pairing with England because if he hasn't formed an alliance with them or traded with them, then he's probably invaded, colonised or fought them, so the scope for emotions or entertainment is unlimited. :D

Sadly my country (Argentina) isn't in Hetalia yet. But I'm Italian (South and North) and Spanish descendant... Well, I love NItaly x Germany, and I like SItaly x Spain (but I feel tired of this couple lately). I support Spain with anyone, especially with France, I don't like Spain x Belgium, though. I rarely like a couple with Romano (only with Spain, but as I said, I'm tired XD), I sometimes like him with Germany, but I'm not fan xD...

I'm American. Before I list things, let me note that none of the ships I dislike are because of history or anything like that; they just don't click with me. I'm not the sort of person who thinks history invalidates a ship. I think anything can be handled tastefully with the right dynamic and the right time period.

I adore France/America and America/Ukraine. I'm not sure which of those is my favorite ship for him but I love them both. I'm also a pretty big fan of America/Seychelles, America/Hungary, Germany/America, America/Lithuania, Prussia/America, and to some extent America/Canada. I like America/Belarus but it's far from my favorite option for either of them.

I'm not really big on USUK, Russia/America, or America/Vietnam. I see what attracts people to all three, but they're just not for me. With USUK I just prefer their friendly/familial dynamic to anything romantic. Russia/America is similar; I just like watching them bicker and have nonsexual tension between them. Sometimes antagonistic relations are just more fun to me when kept antagonistic. America/Vietnam is in part because I don't care for the fanon take on it, in part because their dynamic does nothing for me, and in part because the one pairing that I more or less monoship in this fandom is Vietnam/Taiwan. I can't really ship them with anyone besides each other, Seychelles, Hungary, or fem!Hong Kong. idk why. I just can't.

I'm from America and I don't particular ship America with anyone. When it comes America, I never could see him in a serious relationship. Mm, I do take interest in America/Belarus, somewhat, as a pairing, but never really look into it. America/North Italy is pretty cute xD They're both derpy and innocent-minded characters. They can learn to read the mood together. XD

I don't really like America/England because I like their relationships as brothers. Also I can't really see England pursuing any relations with his "little brother", even if they're not related by blood. I do admit there are some cute fanarts/doujinshi's of them. (And, I do find America/fem!England to be kind of cute X3)

I also am not very fond Russia/America. I have a dislike for violent pairings in general though.

I am born in Germany, so I'll write about him. I actually ship him with Italia, maybe with Austria or even Liechtenstein. (lol, those fanarts!) I don't really dislike couples with him, but I don't see him with England, I don't know why...

American here, I don't like America with Japan, China (actually, any Asian really) Belarus or France. I don't have problems with people who like those pairings, I just don't see America being romantically involved with them, though he can be friends. Just... not with Belarus... no relationship of any kind, minus diplomatic, for them. I do like America with Germany, England, and Russia, heck, even with Italy and Prussia too.

Also, I have a large chunk of Russian and Prussian in me (makes up most of my blood) and I don't like them together nor do I like RoChu, PruHun, or PruCan. I can't see any of those pairings at all. I can't see them working at all, but some people can and that's your own personal opinion, but I prefer Russia with Germany and/or America and Prussia with England and/or Germany. :/

I'm from Poland :)

It's not that popular in our local fandom as you may think, but Hetalia canon screams Lithuania and I really like them together - as a romantic couple or just close friends, it will be always my first choice.

Poland doesn't have any other close interaction with the others, but there's really many historical relations(not necessarily romantic) that I'd like to see, the list is long: Hungary(epic friendship), Prussia(epic enemies, but seriously - they have so much interesting history together), France(unfortunate crush from Napoleonic era), Turkey(epic enemies, then epic friends).
Characters with not that much history, but potential interaction would be awesome or I've read some really good fanfiction about it: Estonia, Canada, Germany and Spain.

As much I'd love to see more of them together I can't ship Poland in a romantic relationship with any other Slavic nations - in canon it's Ukraine, Belarus and Russia(also I really hope to see Czech and Slovakia one day). They work much nicer for me as a family. Poland/Ukraine is a very popular pairing in our local fandom, but I don't really like when people try to make him a "man" for her, they are much cuter as cousins.

I can ship Sweden with pretty much anyone. I don't think there's any pairing with him that I would actively dislike, at least not any that I have seen. There are a lot of minor pairings for him though that I wish had more fandom love, but I know I shouldn't get my hopes up for a lot of them are a bit on the crack pairing level. (There's like me and one or two others that ship Sweden/England, and the same goes for Sweden/France.)

I really like Sweden/Finland, but I definitively think that fandom can be a bit too heavy on that pairing, and would love to see more Sweden/Other and Finland/Other that don't feel the need to bring up Sweden/Finland as a pairing to be broken up. (Sweden and Finland were divorced two hundred years ago, people! Sure, they're better off as a post-divorce couple, being on equal footing instead, but I think they're okay with seeing other people. XD )

I also like Sweden/Denmark, and I wish they had more official interactions as their character dynamics with one another are comedy gold. And it's interesting to me, because looking at history and stereotypes this is so easy to turn both dark and bloody, as well as lighthearted and funny.

I also like Sweden/Ukraine, but I haven't seen much of anything for that. It's one of my history-based headcanon fun ships, so yeah, again not so weird if not a lot of people haven't even thought about it. X)

*thinks some more* Nope, I really can't think of a Sweden/Anyone pairing that I would have a problem with. Except maybe Sweden/Sealand, but that's "dude-so-wrong" on more than one level, and it's not like it's anything I've really seen.

I'm Dutch and Spanish so...

I actually like them together... a lot. The pairing has potential for both comedy and angst plus there is quite some history there.

I like either of them with Turkey or France (or all together XDD)

I like Netherlands with Germany or Russia and I'm crossing my fingers for a Portugal to pair-up with Spain. (History is my romantic novel...)


I don't hate any pairing. I only hate fics were either of the characters is completely OOC or if the author is drastically unaware of a character's history.

There are a number of pairings that don't work for me.
I don't see Belgium with either of them. Not with Netherlands because female incest irks me (probably because I have three sisters) and because their relationship is just to complicated. I don't see her with Spain because of their character. Both are rather dorky and absent minded so I just don't see it work. I do love to see Belgium interacting with them, just not in a romantic way.

Spamano. I know how many people will disagree with me but for me it's always the same dynamics, always the same story, I've gotten bored with it.
Another reason is that recently a friend of mine introduced me to the cuteness that is Belgium and Romano.

Canada and Netherlands. I actually like them interacting very much, and I can't wait for Himaruya to put them together in some comic. But when I have written them together I just can't feel any chemistry between them. They are just both two calm and level-headed. the do make a lovely background couple.

I'm American and my preferred coupling for America is USUK. Heck, I think I subconsciously shipped my nation with England before I even knew what Hetalia was. Probably because our pop culture has mad sexual tension with their pop culture...

Other than that, I can see America/Japan & America/Lithuania & short-term France/America in canon. (well didn't I just accidentally give into seme/uke biases right there...)

For OCs, I'm really intrigued by America/Mexico and America/Ireland. Holy crap, I love America/Ireland- that might be the only theoretical ship that tops USUK in my mind.

Pairings that just don't click for me: AmeCan, RusAme, any pairing with America and a country we've fought in a war since WWII, and I prefer epic bro-ness for America/Australia.

(At least when it comes to the fanworks) Not because I have something against the pairing itself, it's just my general disinterest for fluff and/or established relationships. Russia/Finland is one pairing I like a lot when it's not non-con/generally disturbing. :D Estonia/Finland is fun too, and Norway/Finland, Denmark/Finland, Iceland/Finland and Germany/Finland. And also Finland/any woman, I love het. And... maybe I just stop here.

I am American. I love America and Japan, but mostly because of the countenance of their characters and not the actual countries they represent (so technically I ship AlfredxKiku LOL). As an anime fan generally I find the actual countries feel cliche together... maybe that's just me... I dunno!

I have trouble feeling comfortable America x family (England, Canada, etc) not that I'm not all for incest because I do love incest.... it just seems a little to personal for me as an American to find that comfortable... I dunno why but I get the "cootie" vibe to roughly put it! LOL!

America x Russia family (Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, etc) I can't find a connection of interest within myself, but I do acknowledge they are popular pairings.... they just do nothing for me.

Well, I'm Welsh, so the closest representation for me is of course Iggy. <3

When I first got into the fandom, I only hated three couples: Hungary/Austria + Prussia/Austria (because PruHun is my OTP), America/Russia (I just couldn't see it, personally, plus I much preferred Belarus/Russia, China/Russia, Belarus/America, and of course USUK) and finally, FrUK. For obvious reasons.

But now, I ship World/World. As in, I will literally write/read ANY pairing. Anything at all. I think every pairing, no matter how bizarre, can work as long as there's a talented writer in charge of the project.
So far though, even though I've come to accept FrUK, I've only come across two writers that have made me enjoy reading it. :( So many people fail to give France a multi-dimensional personality... /sigh

ANYWAY. My favourite ships with England is USUK. (Obvious choice is obvious.) I also like FrUK now too, though like I said I have yet to find a lot of good FrUK stories. :/

I also like the thought of England with Spain and Japan, but I have yet to read a good story with either pairing...

Probably considered a crack pairing, but I also really like England/S. Italy. <3 I read a good one shot once, and I haven't been able to get the pairing out of my head since!

One pairing I'd love to see more of is England/N. Italy. I can see how it would be tricky to write but I bet someone could pull it off, and my head!canon says that they at least had a fling after WWII, considering the strong Italian influence that still remains in parts of the UK (particularly in Wales) today! I've heard that a lot of Italians immigrated here in the 50s, though I'm not 100% sure if that's true...

Okay, I guess I have one pairing I still don't like, now that I think about it: England/Scotland. Because, like someone mentioned before about America/Russia (too lazy to check though, derp), I don't like the fandom's take on their relationship. SO many people paint it as an abusive relationship where England is the poor, defenceless uke and Scotland is a barbaric bastard.
I seriously have NOT seen these two portrayed has having a healthy relationship yet. It's disheartening.
But I suppose I should say that I don't like the fanon England/Scotland, since I still believe someone can write this beautifully one day...

Over all though, I'll give anything a try at least once. Throw some England/Belarus at me. Or England/Turkey. Anything. All I ask is that it's well-written and they're in-character and I'm SO there.

Weirdly, whereas incest would totally squick me out in any other fandom, I have no problem with it in Hetalia because they're countries, not people. Even when people write human!AUs, I still can't make myself abhor them, because I simply can't see them as regular people. (Just my own opinion though, of course!)
And like others have said, I don't let history dictate what pairings I like or don't like. As long as things like America/Vietnam, Poland/Germany, Russia/Anyone (seriously, why do people keep writing Russia as such a fucked up character?! If you're going to give him a dark side, EVERY nation should be given a 'dark side'.) etc are written tastefully, I don't see any problem with them.

I'm English and to be honest I can't think of any ships with him I actively dislike. There certainly aren't any ships I can think of that would actually offend me from a cultural perspective either. I do like love-hate pairings and so I ship both USUK and FrUK. Historical accuracy doesn't bother me with ships but I'm not big on shipping characters who don't interact much in the series. For example I can't really see the UK and Canada as a pairing but I don't actively hate it either. As a general rule I'm willing to be sold on any pairing if the writing is good though!
