Christmas event - translators and scanlators headcount

Here is the idea: to bring together all translators and scanlators that want to participate on the Christmas event and divide the work so that the fandom has the updates available as soon as possible and everybody is happy.

Many of us already participated on kitayume events and helped with the translation process, and we know how frustrating it is to be working on a translation only to see it posted virtually seconds before clicking the comment button by somebody else. To prevent this, and also to grant us all a bit of family time and (gasp!) sleep, I thought it would be good to start planning a little bit beforehand.

I know it's too early to work on any kind of schedule since none of us is sure where we will be in two weeks, but I would like to have a list of people who would be interested into translating and scanlating. The most important information would be obviously the time zone, since it's the easiest to prepare schedules based on them. Also, some of us prefer to work in groups, some of us like to translate with somebody to have a second opinion, some of us prefer to work alone. I know a lot of us translators are insecure about our knowledge of Japanese (come on, who isn't), and a lot of us use English as our second language and would need to double check possible mistakes. Working in smaller teams could solve all these problems and provide better results.

I will post a similar post to the main comm some two days before the event so that we can start the actual planning. For now I would need to know how many people would be interested/have time to be working on the Christmas event.

All I need is your comment, and I would like to know:

- if you are a translator and/or scanlator
- if you can work on your own when needed or if you would prefer to have another translator/scanlator online
- your timezone (if it's a too intimate information, I'll be okay with Americas/Europe/Asia/something in-between)

Also I'll be very grateful for any kind of input about how to make this work. I was thinking about google doc with a simple time table  where people could write their names to the time periods when they would be available. Or maybe a comment thread for translators/scanlators where we could write "I'm taking the next update" or "anybody here for midnight GMT?" would work too. I don't want to create anything too elaborate, just a simple, easy tool to make sure there is always someone online for the update and different people aren't working on the same strip at once.

I think we all agree that our goal is always to provide quality scanlations of updates as soon as possible, and I hope with a little bit of planning beforehand, this would solve a lot of problems. Thank you for reading and let's have a wonderful fandom Christmas.
