after much reading over and google-fu-ing *giggle* it turns out to be a question more along the lines of why does Belarus wear a one piece retro dress or something.
Why am I getting the feeling that that is Italy...one of those old street-bridges with shops on them. *did not translate* HAHA, the knowledge that you get from reading descriptive Hetalia fanfictions...XD M'pretty sure it was posted here, too. That fem!Germany x Italy story? It had food as the title. ____ and ____.
*Google-fu* FLORENCE. I was RIGHT. XD
"National Anthem Lyrics

Akku ふ Japanese translation! Akku ふ! Akku ふ! Akku ふ! Do do do ... Akkushiteyaru ふ Fucking bastard ... Akkushiteyarufakkushiteyaru ふ
This sound is definitely one that I copied the U.S. .... "
LOLOLOLOL I am STILL LAUGHING at that Mochi micronation anthem! XD
*sits down to wait for translations* Belarus, Romano, and Prussia... <3
Ah-ha, see, I never would have been able to remember or guess the name of the place! You are so lucky to have visited! I hope you had fun~ What kind of shops and stuff were there?
It was pretty crowded when the shops were opened, but I do remember there being a lot jewelers (gold and silver jewellery). One late afternoon/early evening there was a small band playing and it was pretty cool to see.
Oh, no, please don't thank me! This is just a simple Google Translation, so I KNOW that it is kinda inaccurate! And besides, half of this was originally in English. OTL
Please wait a bit longer for the real translations from the usual crowd! :DDD
LOL, at first I disagreed with you on whether the Star-Spangled Banner was any harder to sing than that, but then I remembered that incident with Christina Aguilera... OTL
>It's a bit late to ask this question but why is Belarus-chan always wearing that retro one piece?
She is doing her best to wear it everyday because she received that from Russia. Apart from that, she also has military uniforms. If I remember correctly, the Character Page (ギャラ竹) should have the design... or not.
>Why does Prussia-chan like Italy-chan so much?
It seems like it's because a lot of things (Interactions?) happened when they fought together.
>How long can Romano maintain his serious attitude?
He would undoubtedly become serious in front of ladies! It's good to have serious Romano sometimes eh? ...even though he is incompetent most of the time.
>Must practice the national anthem!! But it can't be sung during formal occassions right? -laugh-
The lyrics of the national anthem
Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! I will fuck you fuck you fuck you... I will fuck you ! I will fuck you ! fuck you...
Japanese translation
Fakku! Fakku! Fakku! Fakku! Fakkushiteyaru yaru yaru yaru... Fakkushiteyaru Fakkushiteyaru Kusoyarou...(Something like son of a bitch or you bastard or.. fuck you)
If sung in America, no doubt it'd end up as beeping sounds...
>Recently I've reread Hetalia, starting from the first volume and I wonder what software has Himaruya-sensei been using to draw and how it has led to the present's? (Not too sure about the last part)
Thank you. 北工 (??)->At the beginning of Hetalia, I used analog (??), pen, erasers and scanners.->Then I used Photoshop for finishing touches.
The recent ongoing series are mostly done by using Photoshop. For the manga that are being upload to the site, I use mechanical pencil to draw them on copy papers and also my own computer.(??) Also, I like Rocket Pencil (??). -laugh- (Google ロケット鉛筆 and check out the images) If the copy papers keep piling up, they'd become like corrugated cardboards!
(Here onward, I'm not sure about a lot of things so do forgive me for any mistranslations Orz)
>What kind of Japanese souvenirs should I bring over so that foreigners would be happy to receive them?
I would recommend ・Traditional Japanese folding fan It has rich ethnic sense and it's easy to be carried and can be easily presented. ・Japanese style calendar At least those with recognisable kanji as the days of the week. Not only it has practical usage, the kanji also looks cool. I recommend it because it's thin hence it's easy to bring over.
Novelty ・Hanafuda It'd be good enought for people who study/like arts. ・Temari candy (key chain sort of accessories?) Not only do they look exotic in foreigners's eyes, they'd be well received for the cute and colourful, yet rich in Japanese style kind of appearance. It's good for decorations. The only disadvantage is that it is fragile.
For the Chinese, they'd be happy to receive chocolate candies. It is possible, too, that you've been told that South America and Middle Eastern folks prefer stuff that are not too sweet...
>I'm thinking to give out Christmas present this year. I would like to give out things that are as Japanese as possible but I'm not sure what kind of item is a good choice so can you please tell me?
If they are for foreigners that you had received favour/assistance from, I would recommend simple kimono! You can find these easily wearable kimono being sold on the internet and they have beautiful patterns so they'd probably make a good present.
And he did updated the Halloween Costume page today. He mentioned in his latest (very small) blog post. Latvia and Poland here: http://www.geocities.jp/himaruya/hall201103.html
Rocket pencils, huh? I remember using pencils like that when I was much younger. They would drive me nuts, now- I need the consistent width of a 5mm mechanical pencil! D:
Thank you so much! So many useful questions and answers! :D
I can't believe he likes Rocket Pencils! I got one once when I was a kid, and absolutely hated it. It was really hard to reload the nubs properly. Once I ran one out, the rest wouldn't seat right so I couldn't use it anymore without just holding the nubs in my fingertips on their own. And I didn't like how lightly they made lines; had to push super hard to see anything.
Maybe I just had a crappy one, I don't know, but it made me not want to use one ever again. @_@ And yet, I still liked how they looked, I guess for novelty value.
Interesting that he actually finds them useful and/or enjoyable. ^_^()
Man, I admire how much Hima-sensei manages to think through the eyes of citizens of other countries. He knows what us gaijin like when we want Japanese souvenirs! XD He totally nailed it, that it's the kanji that win us over. The more exotic and stereotypical, the better.
I'm so intrigued by the Prussia and Italy answer. Indeed, in other strips Prussia had said Germany would learn to appreciate Italy, obviously due to some of his own experience. I haven't had time for random history reading lately, so I'll see if he ever addresses this in canon, or will look up their interactions as countries later.
I'm guessing he saw his attempts at fighting as moe, and was endeared by the cute? XD Guess we'll see.
Thank you! I'm afraid I don't really remember those Rocket Pencils all that well. Nowadays I draw with 7/9 mm mechanical pencils, Paint Shop Pro 5, and this DSi program called Art Academy.
Thank you so much! ^^ The story behind Belarus' dress is so cute, now I want to know if Belarus gave any piece of clothing to her sister (Ukraine to Russia = Scarf; Russia to Belarus = Dress; Belarus to Ukraine = ??) Of course Romano will always try to look all manly and serious in front of ladies :P The fact that he can only stay serious if there are pretty girls around makes him even more hetare~ =w= He's just so cute!! Himaruya's way too good at understanding foreigners...My mother still keeps the summer kimono a friend gave her as a souvenir from Japan...30 years ago.
OUR MINDS. HIMARUYA DECIPHERS THEM. LIKE SHAMPOO LABELS. ಠ_ಠ
