Bb - A - C - B (FanFic)
Title: Bb - A - C - B
Series: Hetalia
Characters: Austria, Germany, Italy
Pairings: Implied Germany x Italy
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Summary: Austria and Germany argue over Beethoven, and Italy decides to try to play mediator.
Notes: I was watching World Series and laughed so hard at the episode where Germany and Austria fight over Beethoven. As a music major, Austria generally makes me happy, but this went one level further. So, I had to write this little fic. I would note though, I don't actually think Austria would dislike Bach. (Music History time!) Why? Because one of Johann Sebastian Bach's best known piece is The Well Tempered Clavier. During the Baroque era, keyboard instruments didn't have a standardized tuning, and the idea of "well tempered" tuning was just catching on. "Well tempered" is how most pianos are tuned today. In reality, I imagine Austria would adore Bach (and his fugues because those are technical masterpieces), but I decided that here he'd be contrary. ;D Enjoy!

Italy Veneciano hated it when his loved ones fought. If he could have his way there would be no bad things in the world, no hate or anger or loss. However, he was resigned to the fact that sometimes his beloved Germany and sainted Mr. Austria would argue.
He just wished it wouldn’t be over composers.
“Beethoven was German!” Germany growled.
Austria sniffed. “Austrian. He learned everything he knew as an Austrian.”
He hated when they fought over composers because for once he knew exactly what the fight was about. Generally he didn’t get involved in spats like these because he either didn’t know what the fight was about or it didn’t interest him. Not so with this long running argument since Italy was a music buff. He knew his people’s music best, but he did have a love for Mozart, Chopin, and of course, the currently contested Beethoven.
“He was not an Austrian!” Germany was really beginning to get irritated. It always rubbed him the wrong way when someone was incorrect, and Austria was definitely incorrect. Out of the corner of his eye he watched Italy set down the tea service. He was tempted to tell Italy to quit serving them, but the sunny little nation always claimed that he enjoyed waiting on his “Doi-chan”. One day, Germany was going to have to strangle Japan for introducing Italy to Japanese honorifics and nicknames. Not to mention the posters. Sometimes, Germany suspected that Japan was a “fan” of his relationship with Italy.
“He lived in Austria!” Austria was also getting very angry. He was adamant that Beethoven should be considered Austrian. All the best composers were.
“Beethoven was born in the city of Bonn sometime in December of 1770. His early studies were in Bonn, but he built a career in Vienna,” Italy said, “He studied under Haydn and was a pivotal composer in the transition from the Classical period to the Romantic period.” He grinned and cocked his head. He was pleased he’d remembered all of this!
The looks on Austria and Germany’s faces were priceless.
Italy smiled sweetly. “I really like music of all kinds. I read up on Beethoven not long ago. So, he was born German, and made his career in Austria. So, isn’t he both German and Austrian? Can’t the two of you share?”
Germany was the first to recover. “Well . . . I guess we could.”
Austria nodded. “You have a point.” He sipped his tea. “But that only goes to show that it is in Austria that all great composers make their mark!”
Germany rounded on him. “What about Bach?! He never needed Austria!”
“Because who likes Bach anyway? All those fugues -”
“You just don’t like him because you can’t play any of those fugues or the organ!”
“Why you rude -!”
Italy sighed and closed his eyes. Here we go again.
