Just confirming I got this right....

I've kind of been out the Hetalia loop for a long time so I just want to make sure I have some things right....

While browsing the web I found hetarchive.net which has informed me I've missed a lot while I was ignoring Hetalia >< I saw a scanlation area and I just wanted to be sure that all of those scanlations are comics the original mangaka did? I didn't even know Hetalia had that many comics outside of the normal volumes.

Also I came across Hetalia World Series and I haven't watched any of it yet, but is it just a separate series from the normal anime series? It's like...a continuation of Hetalia: Axis Powers right?

Someone help me make sure I have everything straight haha! I was looking up all this stuff and there's so much information and...stuff out there! I didn't know about half the stuff I found. Guess I need to get back in the Hetalia loop. Any answers to my questions and any other information on things I may be missing are more than welcome. Thanks for your help, Hetalia fans ^_^

It's okay

Yes, all of them is by the mangaka, and yes Hetalia world series is a continuation of the first one and there is a movie that just got dubbed. You have miss a lot I mean there Hetalia coming out every month in a magazine, the Hetaween event then the Micronation event and then the France comic thing. But don't worry there is still the Christmas event and maybe lot more event to come ^^

[identity profile] mizu-takishima.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
Well, usually holiday events are comic updates that happen "live", and everyone on lj fangirls and refreshes kitayume during the events.

The Micronation thing was essentially the same thing, the only difference was that it was a "shorter/mini event" c: I guess he just felt like having a mini event for the sake of introducing new micro-nations XD

Glad I could help!

That's a good question actually. Unfortunately I can't answer it because I've never been able to finish/catch up on HetaOni myself @_@ (Not because its bad, but because real life keeps getting in the way, or my attention span starts to shrink!)

Some people say its really scary, others say its goofy and totally not scary. Though most people agree that its sad/depressing, but still good? I honestly haven't made it that far so I don't know :'D

No problem! I'm always up for fangirling about things, and I'm usually around for events too :D

Ok, so i've watched the whole Hetaoni (as it stands at least cuz they won't frikin release part two of seventeen!!!!! *rage*) and i think it was AMAZING. poignant, and a more serious brotherhoodly hetalia. the storyline has many twists in store and theres so many unsolved mysteries! and the music's really good too ^^. the thing is that hetaoni IS based on Ao'oni, a horror video game, so yes it does have some horror elements but i dont find it scary at all (but my friend who has a low tolerance for horror does.) And if you plan on watching it, then just be ready because it will shatter your heart to a million little pieces. hope that was helpful!

We're making a micronation too.

Hello~ We're happy to have you checking in again! Always wonderful to see an old Hetalia family member.

Everything on the hetarchive.net is up to date canon from the original mangaka. He's been doing events and updates on his blog, as well as answering fan questions. xD Such a good papa...

Yes, the World Series is a continuation. You'll find that they are animated versions of the comics, just like the first season.

[identity profile] lezhara.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
The manga is still ongoing. :D He's actually been serialized, so there's actual physical copies being printed for a (monthly?) magazine, I think. M'not really sure about the frequency...

He's also doing lots of side-comics/spin-offs, like the recent Micronations comic from last week.

Don't stress yourself out by forcing yourself to catch up too quickly! xD

[identity profile] webcomix.livejournal.com 2011-11-28 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, well if you haven't seen World Series (which is, yes, pretty much just a continuation of the first two seasons) yet, I'm not sure how long you've been "out of the loop" as you have said C:

You'll notice that the scanlations area of the Hetarchive has it categorized into Non-linear, Comics, Volumes, Events and Birz. The stuff you probably haven't seen yet are in Non-linear (there are a few that are very new), Volumes (4 came out lately) and Events (Hetaween 2011 was some crazy business!).

I hope this helps, though it may have not been...>.

Events are when Himaruya decides to do a sort of live blogging of comics based around a theme. These are usually during holidays, usually Halloween, Christmas and April Fools. He'd update every few hours, and fans on the comm would wait for them - sometimes forgoing social life and/or sleep! It's a time rife for fangirling, inside jokes, and general chaotic fun.

[identity profile] webcomix.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yes! Perhaps you'd like to join us next time, which is (unless Hima pulls another surprise mini-event on us again) Christmas. It's also a really great time to make fandom friends <3

[identity profile] webcomix.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw! Let's totally be fandom friends! =D

[identity profile] webcomix.livejournal.com 2011-11-30 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course! I shall send you a request, and we will chat about the series aallll you want =D

Yes, himaruya is kind of REALLY active lately, just 2 days ago there was an update with a comic about france in his blog as well as a micronation event with really new micronation characters. And India has been introduced as well in the halloween event. Also hetalia has started serialization in comic birz a couple of months ago... Really so many new things lately

[identity profile] kanami-yuuta.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
No, just France. The comic is actually a remake of an old comic he made of a french soldier asking France what countries where. This comic is unusually sad for a hetalia story.

besides this, the last really touching comic was one hima san released in volume 4 about France and a reincarnated Jeanne of Arc. Also well there's the story of America's bicentenary gift(although that one is not really sad).

[identity profile] kanami-yuuta.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
yes both of them are in volume 4

[identity profile] mizu-takishima.livejournal.com 2011-11-28 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Himaruya has a looooot of comic strips!

See, Hetalia originally started out as a web comic. Once he got popular online, people wanted to have his works published (I think Gentosha might have contracted him? I'm not sure) and so he re-drew some things for the Published volumes, but he didn't re-draw everything he's ever made.

Although he has published volumes available, he still posts things on his official site (Kitayume) and his blog (which is on the Kitayume site)

Basically just catch up to world series and try to read things on hetarchive.net :D

This site is also helpful, since I don't think hetarchive.net has every single link working yet: http://aph.starry-sky.com/

[identity profile] rosetteroulette.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Basically what everyone else said! There's the webcomic, then the published manga, where he puts some of the webcomic strips in along with some new material and redrawn strips. The anime's an adaptation, and World Series is the same as the original anime in that it adapts from the other strips.

Not every webcomic strip makes it into the published manga, so I recommend reading them too! :)

HetaOni Information

[identity profile] zacloud.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
In response to your asking about HetaOni... Here's the link to Episode 1:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=509lzLd7t2Q (Make sure the captions are on, in whatever language you're most fluent in.)

At first, it's divided into rather short parts, until YouTube started allowing longer uploads, then they become longer.

In my opinion, it starts off pretty silly but interesting. The derpy artwork is just funny. XD (They were made that way in tribute to AoOni's artwork, which is the game it was originally based on. But it became VERY different so now they barely resemble each other in terms of story).

And there are some parts that are kinda facepalm. But don't take it too seriously, it's kinda fun like a campy horror movie.

But then, if you're patient enough to get to some... certain scenes, then the story starts to really get good, and the writing begins to show its mastery.

And then... well, you can discover just why it's become so popular. Only by experiencing it. :3

Try not to watch any other fan videos and stuff about it until you're mostly caught up; they'll spoil a lot of things. It's all about emotional impact when you get to the good stuff.

It's unfinished, unfortunately; the creator was affected by the tsunami/earthquake. As far as we know, she's alive, but she had a big scare about her grandma (who turned out to be alright, thank goodness), and she seemed depressed in her last blog entry and twitter message (I'm pretty sure she was evacuated, so she may have lost her computer). So, not sure when it will be continued. I hope it can someday, but what is there is still amazing and definitely worth watching anyway.

About Events

[identity profile] zacloud.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
When Christmas is near, just check back here on this main community once in a while, and when it's started, you'll see a post mentioning "Event" or "Bloodbath" or something. That will be where you can join in the spazzing. You can ask all the questions you want and everyone will be glad to give you all the details. :3

It's easier to learn when it's actually happening, that's how I got into it! LOL

Looking forward to seeing you here then! ^_^
