[Discussion] Nation's collections
Alright, I was thinking for quite some time now, do any of the nation's collect anything?
Do they collect crap, or actually valuable stuff? Do they hunt down collectables in antique stores, or just op shops (charity shops)?
Do they show it off, or keep it in cupboards?
Is it a little hobby, or do they basically have a full room of their beloved collections?
Go wild guys!
Alright, just myhuge amount of headcanons... In my head a lot of the nations collect heaps of things...
England: Collects valuable teddy bears (not the mass produce ones), Rupert books, Peter Rabbit rare merchandise, beatles albums, and little cute fairy figures that he showcases in a cabinet. I based most of England on my Dad's collecting habits and mine... England collects a lot in my mind.
America: Has a full room of McDonald merchandise. One of the biggest collections in the world ;D Also, a sizable gun collection and American vintage cars.
France: Has a few of those porcelain figurines (like the pretty girls in dresses) that he showcases off.
Australia: Porcelain figurines of Australian birds. Also he dabbles in bush paintings, pottery and sport memorabilia. Actually, he has a lot of sporting memorabilia.
Canada: Collects stamps. And hockey memorabilia.
Russia: Bottles. He goes around in the river wading for some, or digging under old bridges.
Lichtenstein: Music boxes and rare fabrics. Also, photo frames.
Switzerland: Guns. Biggest gun collection out of all the countries.
Poland: Figurines of ponies/horses that he keeps on all the shelves. And, old dolls.
Prussia: Prussian stuff, and anything with the theme of chicks/chickens. He has a salt and pepper shaker that are cute little chicks, among other home stuff.
Gosh, I could go on and on. But, you guys better have a go :)

But I can imagine America collecting McDonald merchandises lol
we, Canada, actually have really old looking hockey museum in Toronto, so it's not suprising for Canada to have some kind of hockey memorabilia

Don't forget all the coins! America's collections of the Westward Journey nickels (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westward_Journey_Nickel_Series#Westward_Journey_nickel_series), the 50 State Quarters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/50_State_Quarters), America the Beautiful quarters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/America_the_Beautiful_quarters) ("Look, I didn't name it. ... I am not full of myself!") and the Presidental $1 Coin Programs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presidential_$1_Coin_Program) are complete, or as complete as they can be (since the last two are still in progress). Maybe some $2 bills, too.
America's shed is never clean: he can empty it out all he wants to, but he just fills it back up again.

England has lately got an interest in Thames Mudlarking and has started a collection of artifacts.

Besides that:
Prussia: Weapons. From all over the world, he specially loves the type you can't tell it's a weapon.
Germany: Books and manuscripts. Also German cars. He keeps them all perfectly runing and talks to them when he is sure Prussia won't hear him.
Belgium: Dessert recipes.
Netherlands: Flowers and plants.
Austria: Musical instruments. prides himself to know how to play everyone of them.
Hungary: Porn. From very old engravings and stories to modern paraphernalia. She has a special place for anything that features her fellow nations.
Russia: Religious icons. (During the Soviet Union his boss made him burn most of them although he did manage to hide a few.)
Belarus: Anything to do with marriage ceremonies. She's quite the expert on the subject.
Ukraine: Not really a collection but she treasures anything that has to do with her siblings and their tie together.
Greece: Anything to do with cats.
Turkey: Anything to do with tulips. (Every now and then he gets together with Netherlands and they fangirl over the flower)
France: Clothes. the more extravagant the better. Also checks up regularly on any additions to Hungary's collection.
Spain. Tacky souvenirs. (like those flamenco dancers or "I heart" shirts.
I love the idea of America collecting Mc Donald's toys.
Australia is a crytozoologist and collects anything that has to do with this. he spends his free time looking for Dropbears and the likes.

You have now made it my headcannon that Germany is trying to recreate the library of Alexandria. XD

I was in Toronto in May; the Rogers Centre is very lovely (if depressingly empty). How... is it used for exams? I can't imagine how that works! XD
I got some sleep last night. I pulled an all-nighter two nights ago, whoops.

That sounds just like him, haha.

Alfred collects everything under the sun! Comic books, stamps, commemorative quarters, stickers, etc.
Prussia probably has a few beer steins and as for Germany, I like to think be has a ton of sports cars but he's not really materialistic so I don't know.
I think Russia collects little rubber duckies that are all pimped out to look like other things xD

One of the reasons America always calls him old.
Someone must collect shot-glasses! D:
Not sure who. Russia, maybe?
China totally collects calligraphy stuff. And maybe things with cats on it.
Gah, look what Sagwa did to me.I imagine Japan would collect both anime merchandise and ancient scrolls/paintings. He has separate rooms for each.
America needs a Coca-Cola collection.

Prussia collects silly t-shirts in various languages. Canada and America probably got him into it, and now he has all kinds of crazy shirts. He even has the "Shut up!" t-shirt. You know the one.
France has... souvenier condoms. Like, if there's an event where condoms are given out, usually the Olympics, he's guaranteed to pick up a few... and do his very best to keep one unopened for his collection.
And there's also a secret British memorabilia shrine.Agreeing with what everyone said about America. Also going to add in that he has a HUGE collection of Disney stuff. He even has an old (but kept very nice!) Oswald the Lucky Rabbit plush.
Germany has a coin collection. A humongous, meticulously cleaned and organized coin collection. Not just from his own currency, either; he has coins from all over the world. Italy even gave him some old Roman coins.
Russia has... snowglobes. He's just fascinated by them, really; all these detailed little scenes kept in such tiny, delicate, little balls. It feels like being a giant.

As for Japan, he likes buying all the mascot cellphone trinkets from all of his prefectures! There's a huge box in his closet with all of them, and he routinely switches them around on his cellphone. One day, it's a Momiji Manjuu from Hiroshima, the next it's something from Tokyo, ect... (now that I think about it, is prefecture the right word? Darn.)
That is all.

LMAO yes..the Rogers Centre is always so very depressingly empty (and it's HUUGEE so it makes it worse. lol that's how it became a university exam place lol)
We have University final exams there. we don't do it in the stadium playground...we write it in this huge empty room? place? at the Rogers Centre (it's HUUGE) there are desks there. about 4000+ ppl come and sit and write the exam there :-d
Also we have bunch of fairs at that place - like university fair, robot competition, etc :D
it's actually really scary writing exams there bc it's HUGE, it's so empty, the ceilings are crazy high...everyone so quiet and stressing out...lol
I heard from the prof that one person actually screamed and ran out during the exam XDDD
oh my god. we really need sleep...I just lost conscious few hours ago :-I
I was like whaa-?? it's night? where am I? ...what am I?? lol

Yeah, it's ... pretty late. Good night! ♥

England would probably have a lot of odds and ends, or so I imagine the Portobello Market would be filled with. And top hats. And canes. And umbrellas. ... or monocles?
America would have Hot Wheels. :x Lego maybe?
Belarus would have a lot of ribbons and lace I think. Even if she isn't the girly type, it just looks nice. Probably some would suit her wedding dress too...
Taiwan would have pearls and tea pots.
Monaco would have playing cards or casino chips.
France: Perfume.
That's about it, I guess.

Japan would be a hoarder of many, many cute things. Just...Yeah. Tons of cute things.
I'd like to think that Hong Kong collects tiny models of food. It's a thing we really like over here, making miniatures of our food. When I went to Ani-Com HK, my most expensive purchase was a miniature waffle street cart, and I adore it.

Austria: rare/limited edition/antique music instruments and scores. Stradivarius violins, for example.
Canada: Anything hockey-related.
China: Calligraphy, inkstones, old calligraphy paintings and scrolls, though he had to send most of them to Hong Kong and Taiwan's house to keep them from being destroyed by his boss some forty-odd years ago.
France: Wine, clothes that must have been fashionable at some point or other but only look strange to most people nowadays.
Japan: Has a whole room in his house filled with most manga and doujinshi that's ever been published, and another with antique tea cups and calligraphy scrolls.
Prussia: Stuffed animals. I don't know, but somehow in my headcanon post-unification Prussia has a huge collection of stuff animals hidden somewhere only he can find. And any Prussian stuff he could salvage, of course, especially anything and everything associated with Old Fritz.
