[fancomic] "I'm, like, totally Russia!"

Title: sth about Dymitriads
Author/Artist: me
Character(s) or Pairing(s): Poland, Russia, Lithuania, random Russians
Rating:
Warnings: only sketches + I can't draw Russia ; . ;
Summary: great mess in Russia. they were killing each other all the time.

I don't know if someone already did something about it. But I wanted to draw it since I wrote an essay about Dymitriads, so here you have another part of polish-russian history : D

1605

it is said, that only Russians' bodies can tolerate some amount of alcohol. But actually Polish aren't far behind them.

even MASK of Russia is scary 8D

1606

and now, what History says: Russia wasn't always strong. After death of Ivan IV ("the Terrible" one) in 1584, his son, Fyodor ascended the throne. However, he died very soon; he was probably murdered by Boris Godunov, who became next Tsar of Russia.

And we are in 1604 now, when Poland went into action!

A man, who called himself Dimitri - second son of Ivan the Terrible, appeared in Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Of course his stories about miraculous survival were obvious lies for everyone, but Polish magnates decided to help him with acceding to the Russian throne (they wanted LAND and influences).

And that's how Dymitriada began.

Officially, Commonwealth didn't take part in it, although overthrowing Boris would be beneficial to them. So private armies of magnates attacked Russia and somehow they succeed (mainly because of sudden death of Boris Godunov). Dimitri became Tsar and everyone was happy (especially Polish, because they were very well-treated in Moscow Kremlin). But! in 1606 Russians rebelled against them and Dimitri was murdered, together with many Polish. (So they failed.)

But it would be a lie, if I told you: "and they never came back". Because there was also SECOND DYMITRIADA (never give up, eh, Poland?)

This time it caused a polish-russian war (1609-1612). Lithuania and Poland attacked Russia and you know what? You know what?

THEY WON.

They like totally beat Russia, captured capital city and son of king of Commonwealth, Władysław, became Grand Duchy of Moscow.
...
But actually Władysław never was in Moscow. He didn't manage to be there, because in 1611 Russians rebelled against Polish (again). It was caused not only by fact, that Grand Duchy was pro-Polish (not Polish, because ethnically he was rather... Swedish XD), but also by fact, that he was Catholic and wanted to convert Russia to Catholicism.

Well, Russia finally beat Poland and Lithuania - it was king's fault, because he didn't came on time - so they had to leave Moscow and return home.

eh, it was horrible mess, wasn't it? In Russia this period of time is called Смутное время - Smutnoye Vremya ("wielka smuta" in Polish and "Time of Troubles" in English <- not very well-sounding one, I think XD).

Hope I didn't bore you and that my poor English can be understood ^^". Thanks for reading.

Wasn't it during the first Dymitriada when after the farse was discovered the usurper's ashes (or so I think...) was shot in a cannon directed toward Poland?

Just asking :3.

Love your comics. Always full of interesting information and Polish history is something I've grown very interested in lately.
