[Fic] Two more drabbles for the Women's World Cup
Titles: The Night of Victory and Reflection

Summary: The first one is about Japan's victory. In the second one, Germany reflects on the World Cup.

She couldn’t believe it. The whistle sounded and Japan stared out to the field where her players stormed to the final scorer. They had won, they had really won!
America’s players were devastated. America tried to console her girls, tears shining in her bright eyes. But when the awards were given, America walked to her friend, offering a smile. “Congratulations. You deserve it,” she said.
“Thank you,” Japan shook hear hand, “it was a good game.”
Japan’s captain won three awards, while two of America’s players won several bronze and silver awards as well. America and her players walked up to receive their medals, getting words of comfort from Germany and her Bundespräsident.
Japan beamed from ear to ear as she walked up to Germany, hugging her tightly in her euphoria. “Congratulations,” Germany said close to her ear, “you did well.”
“Thank you,” Japan breathed, looking up to her friend with shining eyes as she received her medal. As Steffi Jones brought the cup, the nations stood in the middle, Germany handing it over to Japan who held it up in the air before handing it to her team.
It felt so unreal, yet so wonderful. They had won the World Cup, giving new hope to her people. As they walked around the stadium, holding their banner thanking for all the support they’d been given from around the world, they were celebrated by all the fans in the stadium. Other nations who were visiting came to congratulate her, while others sent messages.
She smiled and bowed to everyone, shaking many hands and occasionally hugging someone, truly happy. It was going to be a very long night of celebrations, but it was all worth it.

Germany looked around the stadium with a content smile on her face. The celebrations and awarding after the great final had lastet long into the night and now, the morning after, it was time to clean up. She didn’t mind in the least that she had to get up early to help with the cleaning, after all, she loved keeping everything in order and didn’t like to sleep in anyway. She ignored Prussia’s grumbling (really, it’s her own fault for drinking too much beer. None of the other siblings were as grudging about working and getting up early as her) and instead reflected on the last weeks.
Another spectacular world cup was over. It didn’t even matter that their team lost in the quarterfinals because with everyone doing their best, all these fantastic, exciting games, why would anyone need to be depressed? (the only one a bit depressed was, again, Prussia - she was much too competitive. But that depression was soon gone once she was able to bother Austria) Sure, it was a bit disappointing to lose, and as the defending champion, no less - but everyone found a new team they liked and wanted to support for their work and fantastic playing.
But most of all, Germany and her siblings had once again been able to show where their true talents lied: organizing events and being great hosts. Every guest was welcomed warmly and everyone was in good moods, just cheering and enjoying the games without caring who played. She would love to host events like these more often, but being guest in other countries was wonderful, too.
Germany returned back to her work, still smiling. She had had to speak both words of comfort as well as congratulations throughout the tournament and especially the last two nights. But that was fine, too. It was part of the job of being great hosts. And now, with the memory of that great world cup still fresh in mind, going back to politics would be far more relaxed.

Of course it's sad they lost in the quarterfinal (but it was against the world cup winner :D) but it truly was amazing to have anouther world cup in my homeland. It's an honor to host such an event and aww Germany, you just spoke my mind T__T

The one that really stood out to me most however, was the second drabble on Germany's thoughts. It was a nice insight to what a host nation would feel and how even after they'd lost earlier, they were still into the game and cheered for their friends/favourite teams. And Germany wanting to make sure everything was all organized and cleaned, even after the finals... so Germany xD

Ich glaub so ging es wirklich vielen deutschen Fans, zumindest in meiner Familie kann ich das bestätigen - wir waren alle hauptsächlich für Japan - und mir war es tatsächlich in dem Sinne das ganze Turnier über egal, wer gespielt hat, solange es ein tolles Spiel war xD und im Fernsehn wurde das ja in den Kommentaren auch immer wieder betont, also hab ich das alles mit einfließen lassen und schon befürchtet, dass das dann als OOC gesehn wird xD

I wrote the first one right after the game while watching the celebrations, so I tried to put all of that into words. It's one of the things I like the most about sports - when even after you lose, you can go up to the winner and congratulate them, shaking hands or even sharing a hug because you did your best and it was a good game. Scenes like that make everything so much more beautiful in my opinion.
Also, I'm glad you liked the drabble on Germany's thoughts. I was afraid it would seem a bit OOC because I used the thoughts and feelings of German people to characterize her. It's good to hear that I did a good job with it :)

Thank you so much for writing these! They were wonderful. It's sad to see another tournament end, but it was definitely an exciting one! I'm really excited for 2015 in Canada!
