Hetalia's reached the end of World Series. DEEN said it'd be the last episode "for awhile." So, it's kind of a season finale for now.

It's been a while I haven't followed the aniems eriously so...

Is it a brutal end due to the earthquake (which isn't surprising, considering the impact it has on the electric installations) or is it the last episode planned ?

It was a planned season finale. They announced that about a week or so ago, before any of this horrible mess happened.
