Fanart and Closet Cosplay Dump - China, UK, Korea

First the cosplay. I'm new to the wig thing. Any pointers/ concrit will be appreciated! Also, how do you get the thing to not slide back on your head? Sheez.

I threw out the melamine-enriched White Rabbit candy, so I can only offer you oranges (and what is it about oranges, anyway?)

Now, the sketches. Remember, I didn't say anything about them being any good:

was thinking of O_O and >.< emoticons. Now, an explanation to what Arthur is wearing:

YES HE'S BLOODY TINKERBELL. He might be Hook and Pan, also. Punk rock Pan. Yup.

In which Yao doesn't die during the Qing dynasty, when men were required by law, to cut their hair into this unsexy style. Haircuts were met with huge opposition because before then, men let their hair grow long as a practice of filial piety, as in the Heian period of Japan. There were many rebellions against this law, and each ended with bloodshed. sorry, those were kinda my peeps that imposed bad haircuts on Chinese.

So, at the end of the Qing dynasty, his hair probably started growing out. And we all know how painful the growing-out stages are. Personally, I think Yao has really funny hair. He doesn't seem to comb or style it successfully, because it's not as beautiful in canon as it is in fanart, where he gets help from a professional stylist. Anyway, that's this fangirl's take on China's hair, probably because of her own hair failures.

YongSoo is very strong. Why? Because during South Korea's Fifth Republic, students and businessmen took to the streets to protest against the authoritarian rule of the government. This led to military action and thousands of civilian deaths. In 1987, the torture-death of student Pak Chong-ch'ol by the police sparked widespread outrage among South Koreans. During the demonstrations that ensued, over 260,000 tear gas shells were used in 1987 to quell demonstrations. In the end, the people were victorious, and Roh Tae-woo was elected president by popular vote. Five years later, South Korea's first civilian president was elected.

Fandom, I'm not sure if I got this story correctly. If I'm missing or have mistated something, please let me know, because it's important.

This Yong Soo is inspired by my friend Lee, who was tear-gassed as a college student during these demonstrations, and spoke of it in a very animated, powerful way. It clearly shaped the person she is, and at 40 she still carries that energetic, forceful optimism that ignores reason and which makes me a little nuts at times that IMHO was necessary to change the history of South Korea. Go Korea, Go! aru

Tips for wigs: Only use hairspray, and try and mist the wig more from far away than up close. (Unless you're doing like crazy Square Enix hair.

It's definitely not a bad wig, it just needs to be combed slightly. :D

I like your sketches a lot, though. :D

Hmmm, I've never had a problem with wigs sliding back and I wear them a lot... you are wearing a wig cap underneath right? Maybe try pining the wig to the wig cap.

And omg Tinkerbell Arthur... So cute. Makes me feel better about when I got forced in to a Tinkerbell costume, haha. ^^;

Iggy would be the sassiest Tinkerbell ever.

sorry, those were kinda my peeps that imposed bad haircuts on Chinese.

You're of Manchu ethnicity? (Well I guess it's technically "Man" ethnicity, since the "chu" is from the Chinese "Zu" meaning "ethnic group" in Chinese @___@). I don't know, the first time I saw that hairstyle was when I was a kid and watching a historical drama. I thought it looked kind of odd and didn't quite get why the style would be popular (didn't know back then it was a law, just thought it was the fashion trend of those days, lol). Now I think it looks pretty neat, although I do wonder how all the guys managed to get their hair to grow long enough to make those long braids...and keeping the front part always shaved must've been a bit of a pain.

Cute sketches :D

The best way I can think to stop a wing from sliding is to wear a wig cap, and pin the wig on with lots of hairpins. Use the open-looking kind though, instead of just the regular ones. I don't know how to describe it very well, but they look the ones numbered three in this picture (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v201/Amon_and_Robin/01-2.jpg). You can really wrap your hair around them so they hold pretty well.

No worries, I'm not much of a hair person either really. At the moment I've actually got half of mine shaved off because I got tired of doing it every day XD But for the pins, the best way I remember is to wrap your real hair around one side of it...like, so only one of the two wire bits has hair around it. Then poke the side with no hair up into the wig, turn the pin, and poke it back down the way it came so a little bit of the mesh of the wig gets caught in the 'V' shaped part of the pin.

Sorry I'm so bad at explaining ^^;; You might be able to find a better description of it on a site that shows how to do the fancy updos for weddings and prom and stuff. A lot of those use the same kind of pins.

Wear the wig slightly lower on your forehead, so that the edge of the wig rests on your skin. This provides enough friction (usually) to hold the wig in place in the front. There should also be hooks attached to elastic that are meant to be hooked together at the back to hold the wig firmly to your head. So, in short, set the wig slightly lower on your forehead, hook the elastic, then gently slide the front back until it nears your hairline. Wigs slide off because they're either too big or your hair is too smooth to hold it.

Eh, hope that helps?

Wig caps are a fast and easy way to keep your real hair out of the way when putting on wigs, so you might want one anyway. That said, I don't think they are all that necessary. ^_^;;; Didn't help much with keeping wigs on for me anyway.... Good luck with the wig!

when you use hair spray, please make sure that you keep the room well ventilated. We don't want anyone passing out from the fumes do we?

I totally agree with you with the Qing dynasty hairdos for men! I see them in those chinese dramas my mom watches, and I think they look ridiculous! I also never really understood how they styled their hair like that too.

England the badass Tinkerbell XD I can't stop laughing oh god XD
