You don't get accents like that in 潮州 or 廣東！There's this one sound that's like the end of English words "ing," except it's in the beginning of words a lot, like 我. Though it seems like many HK-speakers can't pronounce them! It's also in 牛，餓，and 鴯. An HK drama set in modern or ancient times? :O Since those tend to have different accents for some reason!
I actually learned how to write from Chinese school, though they offer pretty poor education after middle school. xD;; I practice with my mom mostly; my dad's handwriting is beautiful but illegible! Did you learn in HK? :O Chinese sisterhood forever man! >w<'''
