Cosplay Help - Pirate England

I'm making a pirate England cosplay and I want to know if there is a definite design for the coat?  I've seen blue versions as well as red, some with buttons that go all the way to the bottom of the coat and others that only end at the waist.  I've also seen varying designs for the lapels, some with no lapels at all.  I need to know before I actually buy the fabric and get started, since I'm a stickler when it comes to accuracy on cosplays.  Any help out there or suggstions?  Thanks so much!
