(WIP) I need opinion on my China cosplay...

I'm not sure if this is allowed, if not I'll delete it (was a bit confused if this was allowed, even after reading the rules)

Sharing a pic of my WIP cosplay of China:

I'm going to cosplay China on my local anime convention and so far I only got the wig (cuz I have short hair and I have no desire to let it grow long like Yao's), and I wanted to know if so far it looks good, cuz I'm afraid I won't have time to make/buy Yao's garments the way they look on the anime (the traditional Chinese dressing, not the military uniform)for this event, so I'll only have the complete outfit for the next one.

Yet I do have some male Chinese clothes that are blue and my friends really want me to go with them cosplaying, so maybe I'll wear then just until I get time to get the final outfit. But to do that I think I have to convince people I look like Yao even without the proper outfit finished.

Opinions?

I think it would work even with the "wrong color". Actually... Generally I find cosplay is LESS about the outfit and more about the acting. If you have a really good gimmick it doesn't matter. :)

People are pretty lenient on China cosplayers if they're wearing a changshan, so if you're wearing one it's not really a big deal. You get extra props if you make what is canonly in the show of course.

As for the wig, you need to play with it a bit more. It's pretty messy for China's hair, but nothing a little bit of brushing and trimming can't handle.

Good luck with your cosplay~

Like the two above me said, I think it could work if you were confident about it. Maybe bring a prop along that would sell the fact that you were China? (i.e. make a little shinatty doll or buy a hello kitty flag or something)

Like previously said, once you brush the wig out and tidy it up, as long as you have something even a bit Chinese looking, I would recognize you as China in a con setting. I think you make a very cute one so far!
