Confusion of a character

Greetings on this joyous Hetalia filled day!

I got the special edition Hetalia book today and took my sweet time reading the manga, until I hit the 95th page. There's a character there I've never seen and his name is in katakana, but I still can't figure out who it is. My first guess is the old name for Russia, Kiev Rus, but that doesn't make sense on the timeline...

Anyways, I had taken a picture of the character, but my computer won't recognize my SD card. If anyone else has the volume, it's on page 95 and when there are pictures of four characters (Denmark, Prussia, unknown character, and Turkey/Ottoman Empire). I'm not talking about the character at the bottom who's a human (I think it's Lithuania or Poland's king).

Thanks!

What is the katakana?

I have no idea what that is in English but searches on Google turn up stuff related to Russia...

It's the Golden Horde (lit. Jochi Ulus in Japanese)

Sounds like the Golden Horde to me.

The katakana matches it almost perfectly when I saw the Japanese wiki article for it.

If you click on the wiki link it explains everything :)

Basically Russia + various other countries after the Mongol invasion. Jochi Ulus as a character probably does not(or actually should not) exist anymore.

Yeah, he probably counts as a nation even if he is "dead" at present.

Wait, since the Golden Horde is technically formed by Genghis Khan's kids, does that make him a relative of Mongolia then? A son?

Oh man, I'd love to see a picture of this so I can put it in the List (http://thesikorsky.livejournal.com/8378.html). I've already put the name in.
