I kept seeing the comments about episode 7, and then I got there...and HOLY CRAP. <3

I'm guessing what America said was accurate--I mean, don't they get the script so they can translate from that? But that is seriously the most AWESOME THING EVER to hide behind America's mumbling.

One thing that's going to bug me, though, is "U.K." and "U.S.A." The first is a bit inaccurate for the character, considering he has brothers (though merchandise does usually go the U.K. route, doesn't it?), and the second...well, maybe I'm just too used to calling him "America." But still, most people do say America anyway...

Also, I do agree that the UK and USA thing is a little weird... but then again, I guess it's a little more accurate, with the flag and the fact I heard "Igirisu" is supposed to mean "United Kingdom". And I guess naming America "USA" would point to the actual country...

I just hope if they're going to use those initials instead for the dub, it wouldn't sound as awkward.

I'm pretty sure these guys have the original scripts to do the subbing for, you guys. xD I'm going to say that they are being accurate, or at least, they are trying to be. Also, the Japanese language is fairly limited in a language like English, where all the synonyms that could be in place of certain words could have a different connotation.

About the USA and UK... eh. For merchandise, I think that is fine, but I think that would be rather awkward just for the sake of naming between the characters. England is technically the UK representative and English representative in the series, so, they should stick with that, and most people just shorten USA to America. I mean, the full name for Germany is Bundes Republik Deutschland (for the modern day, anyway), but most just say Deutschland, or Germany. Same idea.

I'm pretty sure it's like that in any place that's not America or Canada, because that's what Funimation license covers. They don't license titles internationally, so they can only show it to people in the two countries that they've agreed to distribute it for.
