[Fanart] Bliss in Black

Title: Black April
Author/Artist: [livejournal.com profile] dinoturtle
Character(s) or Pairing(s): Vietnam
Rating: G
Warnings: Uh. Communist Vietnam's flag if anyone is offended by that.
Summary: Anniversary for the Fall of Saigon from the Vietnam War. A pic and a few sayings.

So yeah. Here's just a quick pic y'know. I nearly forgot, to be honest. >_>;; I contributed by wearing all black today! It was quite popular in my school. We looked like a school of Vietnamese emos. 8D;;

At any rate, condolences to families affected from the war, on the US side and both sides of Vietnam. Although there's a party in Vietnam right now (dude she loves to party), I'm sure quite a few people over there are mourning over the loss of land, property, family, and a few liberties. Lost m'gramps because of the war but well, life goes on.

AFTER THIS I JUST WANT TO DANCE. :T too much morbid.

Vietnam looks fierce. That flag may be the communist flag but it is the official Vietnamese flag which I identify Vietnam with.

Yes life goes on. Or more accurately, now only my grandpa's generation and my Mom's generation care about the hardship people went through after the fall of the South, most people who are born in the 80s and later are not very interested in the history of the war anymore. We are not old enough to experience the before and after differences.

All I know is that if the South didn't fall, I would have been born into a still wealthy clan :D

I'm not too keen on the fact that that the anniversary of the fall of Saigon is being partied on. I can see why it would be partied on and celebrated, but it kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth, simply because I know many people who suffered because of the Vietnam war. Relatives were put into re-education camps (most of them suffer from health problems as a result), half on my Mum's side fled on the boats or to Thailand/Malaysia, a few were soldiers for the north and so forth. The effects of Agent Orange are still present today.

Yeah... The bad taste is still in my mouth, mainly because i know too many people who have suffered... You know, there are just some days to be partied on and celebrated, but i think that the anniversary of the fall of Saigon should be used to remember and honour the dead and the fallen.

Lovely picture though. The communist flag is the official flag now so most people shouldn't have a problem with it now.

Er, I don't really understand, what party? You mean the celebration held by the government? It's not like the majority of people care about this anyway.
Todays Vietnamese (both North and South) often just go travelling somewhere on this day. All the tours have been sold out long before, we're mostly just glad that there's a long vacation to enjoy. Young people (meaning half of the poplulation) who're born after the war often forget (or perhaps just don't care), life goes on indeed...

And the picture is nice.

Oh well, I am not sure about the north, but in the south, you can't ignore an on-going party at 9pm where fireworks were, well, fired. And to take into account that we only firework once a year...
Anyways, this is the only time I can see the(real)patrotic of my friend, for all of their moans and complaints
p/s: I also have never seen so many icons of Vietnam Flag on facebook than ever.
