Summary: A little Valborg-themed sketch featuring our favourite Nordic family (minus Hanatamago, she would be too scared of the fireworks to enjoy the festivities, so she had to stay home x3).






Sorry it's so small. In case you can't read my miniscule handwriting, here's a transcript:

Sealand: Let me go! I want to fire jump too! Come on, dad! *struggle*
Sweden: Not 'n a m'llion years.
Finland: ... *struggles to contain urge to join the fire jumpers*

Q. What is Valborg?
A. Wikipedia holds all the answers. *lazy* ♥

Q. What is a fire jumper?
A. I made that word up, but here's an explanation: As part of the Valborg celebrations, huge bonfires are lit. There's always an idiot (or 50) who think it a good idea to jump across the edges of the blazing inferno (preferably whilst intoxicated). Thus, I added the disapproving/unimpressed Su-san at the bottom of the picture.


Happy Valborg! And also, I wish a Happy 64th Birthday to my King Carl XVI Gustav! *curtseys in the general direction of the castle in Stockholm*

Happy Valborg! x) They put ropes around the bonfire I went to to keep the crowd out, so no firejumpers. Not that people didn't cross the ropes anyway...OTL.

Agh, I wanna go to jump into fire too (lol, or not into it literally. I once did that. And was sober.) but they didn't make bonfire here this year D: I gotta wait for midsummer... yes... what am I saying O.o?

I love that picture. Fin would be just that kind of an idiot who jumps there :'D Oh poor him having to fight his very nature to stay away :'D yes.

... Now that I think of it, I don't think I've ever seen a Valborg bonfire. In Finland they reserve huge fire displays for Midsummer's when people are more drunk and the lakes are unfrozen. :'D

Wow, yeah we leave the bonfires for midsummer over here. But that doesn't mean we stay "clear" (klara) at all. Och grattis på födelsedagen, Sveriges kung!

Klara vappen! Bara vatten hela natten! Or not, as it would seem to be. Number of naked people already seen: 7. Temperature outside: 8C with wind and rain. Considering these factors, firejumping just may become a very tempting thought for some. :D

It is a tradition (well, sort of), so they can't stop people from doing it, despite preventive measures. It's the same deal as with the annual burning of the Gävlebocken, I'd say. It's amazing how the culprits are never caught... I bet it's Berwald. Or Tino. Or both. ♥ xD

7 naked people... pictures? :Q____ And neither wind nor rain (or snow/ice for that matter) has ever kept Nordics from getting naked. During new year's eve several of my male friends divested their clothes in favour of having a snowball fight. A lot of manly hugging ensued, in order to warm each other up again. I know how you feel. I had no clue that "saffranspannkakor" were a traditional Swedish dessert until I found a Japanese fan art on pixiv of desserts of the world... I got schooled about my own culture by an otaku over half a world away ._.;
