Long post is long (and, uh, mildly pointless)
Hello, rest of the world!
I come, uh, bearing a lot of non-sense, after 1-2 weeks mindless fangirling over APH (and annoying a lot of people in the process).
First: Similarities
I am working on a list of other anime characters that remind me of the nations. I'm doing this along the way, whenever I see somebody I put them down and that's it. (Prussia, for example, reminds me of Atobe (Prince of Tennis) all the fucking time, whereas Austria reminds me of Tezuka. Yes, I was very much into PoT. ) I don't have everybody yet, but as I was reading the recent chapter of Eyeshield21, I couldn't help but noticing but similarities.
Small recap: ES21 is a manga about American Football and the Japanese National High School Team takes part in a world tournament. Japan was just playing against Germany. (!) This, uh, contains spoiler for the current chapters, but not really. In fact, the current chapter is the first that has seen the victory of the main team (so to say) against 2 (!) teams. But that's not important other for the fact that ES21 is an amazing manga, but I may be biased.
tl;dr: I saw similarities (that may just be the view of Japanese on all Germans, but well. Let me be amused by this):
This person is the captain of the German team, called "Schultz". He has photographic memory and - despite his not so muscular built *coughs* compared to other characters in the manga - is a magnificant tactician, player and well-respected by everybody (although he creeps me out because he looks like a Nazi, but well.) Please notice that he has no given name, so I will me muchly amused should I ever read somewhere that it's "Ludwig". Also, it will prove me right.
Second: An icon
Which is, uh, too big for livejournal, since I don't have a decent gif-animator anywhere and only noticed this after I already started making this icon, so, uh... help? If anybody has ImageReady or anything alike, I can give you the files that I have and you could... put them together for me? Please?
Explanation: When I watched the first episode, I was not quite able to distinguish what Germany said. -_-'' The explanation didn't help either, thanks to Katakana (that are getting on my nerves already, but that's a totally different story), and thus, this misunderstanding happened. @.@ Yes, I fail. I know. I had a short good laugh though. ^^;;

A/N:: I tried to keep this as light as Hidekaz' strips, because I really intended it to be a strip like that but, uh, I can't draw. I don't have the patience to draw either. @.@ So, if somebody would like to have a take on it, please feel free to do so, because I would really want to see it. *laughs*
Shortly after WW2, Germany was preoccupied with restoring himself. But due to the beatings he took from the allied forces and the fact that he had been more concerned with trying to hit them back, it was too much for him and he had to ask Italia for help. He was also rather depressed after he had found out what he had done in the war that he would rather be with somebody than on his own, constantly under the thumb of the allied forces. Not that they meant any harm, he was just… not used to not being much in control.
“Sure I will help!” Italia agreed whole-heartedly. “I love you, remember?”
Germany sighed and shook his head, still unnerved by the fact that Italy was such a coward, but since he really needed the help, he said nothing.
Thus, for a few years, Italy helped Germany until the both of them were exhausted.
“Geez… Look at this. I’ve rebuilt, but I feel kind of lonely since Russia doesn’t let me see Prussia and I don’t know what to do with all the money that I made. Look, I even made a car available to everyone with what I invented in 1938,” he said, patting the beetle-like car next to him.
“Hm?” Italy said, looking out of a Fiat 500 Topolino.
“…Forget what I said,” Germany sighed and rubbed his temples, wondering why he still bothered. Sometimes he wished he could just erase the past and go on. But that wasn’t good, forgetting was never good, what would be if it happened again? He would certainly die. Thus, he tried very to please America, UK and France, who were watching closely over him. “Look, how can you be so happy, with the war lost and… oh, I forgot. Happens to you all the time.”
“Heehee~ I really don’t know what you’re talking about, but why don’t you come to my house for the summer? It’s pretty relaxing and stuff, once you lie down on the beach, take a dip in the water… And you can enjoy the Pizza and the Pasta that I make!”
“…Can I bring beer?”
“Sure! Whatever you want!” Italy beamed.
“Ah great, then let me pack my tent and everything for camping outside, it will be like in the old times…”
“Uh… Okay…”
And thus Germany spent his summers after the war in Italy(‘s House), because really, it had nothing to do, economy was doing great (which could only happen because it was Zero and everything better than Zero is great).
That was until South Italy got fed up with the Germans invading deeper and deeper into his land and he told them that Spain had an island just as beautiful as Italy. He still held a grudge against Spain due to the constant abuse during his childhood from the old pedo.
But when Germany came to Mallorca, UK was already there. They fought (and still do) over the solemn rights to do vacation on this island, but they did it with soccer and while they are still fighting, Russia came and settled down there, too.
This all deserved some very nice “WTF?!” from everybody, but at least Germany was able to see Prussia again in the end. Just that Prussia… was not Prussia anymore, but had been thoroughly brain-washed by Russia. Still, everybody lived happily ever after (hopefully).
PS: Any innuendos are not really intended, but were really fun to write. Really, the rush of Italia-fans from Germany southwards every year got so much funnier after I wrote "Germany spent his summers after the war in Italy[...]". XD
Lastly: A small request
In line of the drabble I just presented you, I miss a certain sports in Hetalia and its fanarts. (...I just realized I miss ANY kind of sports in Hetalia. o.o) Anyways, with Soccer being Germany's national sport, England's too, Italy's as well, it's kind of sad that I haven't seen any of that kind yet. ^^;
I would love to see something with Germany battling with England (d'uh) and Italy and America trying to get into it, but England being like "Shut up, you play like a girl" or something (since women's soccer is far more popular in America than for men as I've heard), because I think it would be awesomely funny. XD But that's just my 2 cents.
