At least the guy who did it looked manly while tap dancing! all the male tap dancers I've ever seen were always more on the thinner girlier side...

I couldn't resist. my friends I was talking to last night while watching the Opening ceremonies know I was freakng out about that part of the show.

As an Atlantic Canadian, I really enjoyed that part of the ceremony. We have very strong Celtic roots here. I was pleased when the commentators mentioned how the inspiration for that section came from a trip the producers made to George Street and its pubs.
I read a comment from an American who said he didn't like that part because it just sounded like an Irish jig, and I laughed out loud. Newfoundland is often called 'The Most Irish Place Outside of Ireland,' and I thought the music was a great representation of the traditional music of the Atlantic Provinces. :)

As an American myself, I didn't understand the Irish bit for a while, then I really sat and thought about it and it hit me. ^^; Then it made total sense. I've always enjoyed that sort of thing though, so it made me even more excited about it.
