Question for fic writing...

Okay, I've been wanting to write a historical-based fic involving Spain and the conquering of ancient Mexico. With that in mind, I want to know how I could approach this....

1. Obviously the Spanish obliterated the Aztecs, and enslaved the other tribes in the area. Would this mean the "nation-tan" of the Aztec people would die?
2. Historically speaking, a majority of Mexicans are the result of the mixing of Spanish and indigenous people. In that case, could a "nation-tan" possibly impregnate a human?
3. ...Assuming the ancient nation of the Aztecs wasn't female. I'm still trying to decide on genders, because while Hispanic culture is more "masculine" (which would probably fit Mexico-tan), the women in Aztec culture held important positions such as doctors, priestesses, and merchants, as well as being the caretaker of the home.

I'm welcome to any ideas/critique/etc
