[Fic] Of all stupid things... (Den/Nor)
Title: Of all stupid things...
Author: Rabieskatten (me :3)
Characters/Pairings: Denmark/Norway
Rating: Workssafe/fluff
Warnings: None! :'D Oh, maybe swearing~ I always makes Norway swear a lot.
Summary: Norway can't find his precious hairpin, and not the shirt, and not the hat... Who stole it and why? Denmark is the main suspect, because it's only the two of them in the house. After scolding Denmark for the second time, an surprise awaits upstairs in the bedroom.
Author's Note: I have no idea if I should make Denmark an asshole or an airhead, because Himaruya's version is more of a happy airhead than a perverted asshole (like I usually make him like).
"Where the hell is...", Norway thought for the third day that morning while looking trough the things in his room. He started to get irritated. He never loses something of his. He was very organized, that's why there was no way he could ever forget what he put his things, simply because everything had it own certain place. Of course he was not inhuman, he could actually forget what he put a thing, but he usually found it very fast. That was why his irritation grew stronger and stronger for every minute he wasted looking for one of his most used and most beloved things - the hairpin.
It was a great thing it was a free day that day, because he wouldn't go outside without the pin. Not because of the comments or questions he would receive, he didn't cared of what other people thought. Without it he just felt uncomfortable and incomplete.
He went downstairs to the dining room where Denmark was eating breakfast in piece. It was a very late breakfast, perfect for a lazy bastard like him. He was eating a boiled egg without bother to cut it up eat it on a toast or something. Norway started to grow very suspicious.
- Good morning!, Denmark said with a smile. Would you like to join me for breakfast?
- Don't fuck with me, you bastard! There's only the two of us in the castle since yesterdays and that means only you could hide my hairpin!
Denmark stared at Norway and started to smile.
- I see you got no hairpin, still I dunno where it is. Ya sure you haven't lost it?
- I'm never losing my stuff and you know that too damn well. You just want to make me irritated!
Norway kicked the chair Denmark was sitting on and looked at his with his big, blue eyes that was filled with killing intention. Just the loss of the hairpin was irritating enough, that moment he wanted to kill Denmark for having that stupid attitude. Now he was convinced Denmark hide it.
- If ya don't believe me, search in my room. It isn't going to be there. Ya should put on some clothes and try again later.
Norway sighed and made a toast in silence. It was no use talking to that idiot anymore. While eating the toast he went to Denmark's room. It was the most untidy room he knew. If Denmark wanted to hide something in one of these piles of stuff he could easily do so. It was a good thing Denmark was sleeping in another room that - thank god - was much tidier. Norway gave up the search. He would try again later after getting dressed. If Denmark was making a prank he would eventually put it back and then pretend he didn't do anything.
Back in his room he looked at the chair he put his uniform the day before. It wasn't there. That moment Norway started to feel really pissed of. It could not be an accident! His hat was nowhere to be found either. Norway put on the first pants and top he could find before going downstairs again. This time Denmark was enjoying some tea and reading a book.
- Did ya found your hairpin?
Norway slapped Denmark's head so hard the teacup fell down on the floor.
- Whaccha doin' that for?
- You dickhead! I know it's you! I can't find my hairpin, my uniform and my hat! You stole them, didn't you?!
Denmark looked at him with a very dumb look on his face before cleaning the tea up from the floor with a shirt.
- I have no idea where it is, Lucas.
- I don't believe you.
Norway was gazing at Denmark's hair. Somehow he looked different than usual.
- Hey, where's you stupid-looking hat?
- Hmm?, Denmark said before looking at Norway again and smile. Oh, that one. It's in your bedroom. It may be together with your things.
He knew it, Denmark was planning something! It would surely be something very stupid. Maybe it was just some kind of trap. Denmark was the master of doing mischiefs and to make people angry. He would probably feel stupid but anyhow Norway went to his bedroom with Denmark following his back. He flew the door open and nobody could prepare him from what he was going to see.
It was two teddy bears on the bed, hugging. One of them wore Norway's hairpin, top and hat, while the other one wore Denmark's hat. Norway was stunned and had no idea what to say. His face started to feel really hot as the blush grew on his cheeks. "Of all stupid things...!", he thought before Denmark hugged him.
- Happy birthday, Lucas lille!
- ...What do you want to say with this?
Norway was confused but one thing was clear - Denmark wanted to tell him something with this prank.
- You see what they are doing?
- Hugging...?
- Exactly. I had no idea what to give you, that’s why you got a bear. I know it's your birthday, but I want to make a request. I want you to hug me like the bear is doing.
- Who would...?!
First, Norway was angry. But then, he sighed, turned around and gave the taller man a hug that lasted for a very long moment.
- You're too embarrassing. If you wanted a hug you could just said that from the start.... Mathias.
Norway didn't want anything for a gift. He had simply forgotten his own birthday because he already got all he could wish for - Denmark's love. But that would something he would never confess. Denmark just had to remember the small signs of affection, one by one, just the same way he never would forget Norway's birthday.
