[Official Site] Popularity Polls and stuff

Uh, yes. By clicking around the sites, I found a link on the anime/drama CD site that led to the manga site on Gentosha. From there I clicked on somethings that look like polls for stuff like your favorite character.

http://www.gentosha-comics.net/hetalia/enquete/index.html

There aren't very many votes on any of them(at least, not as many as I expected). They shouldn't close the polls so fast, I wanted to voooote.

The 1# in popularity is Arthur, jajajaja. British Tsundere with awesome eyebrows with invisible friends with the funniest expressionsXD (Sadly, if you are Canada or Finland or Estonia or Latvia or Sealand or Hungary or Egypt or someone else I am forgetting here you have no votes at all.)

The 1# favorite chapter of the manga is "America cleans out the storage". The only really serious one in the book, even. Comments say stuff like "it makes me cry every time I read it". I felt sad reading it too... even though Hetalia is a humorous series, I wish there were more serious stips like that.

There is also a poll for "Kanji that represents Hetalia the most" and I can't tell what the #1 is because it's in a picture form. And obviously web translators can't translate pics. Argh.

If this is not supposed to be here, um, go ahead and delete it... I kinda found it interesting.

(Um... yeah. If someone wants the manga scans, can someone tell me what stories are actually only in the manga? Because I'm most likely going to do something stupid and post up scans of stuff already on the site. I think I know to scan that one with the Grim Reaper in it, and I think ":) in the world" is only in the book... and random small ones like the "Photoshop Crop Circle"... I apologize for my slowness, orz.)

Number one is LOVE, baby! Beating out country, pleasant, MOE, and smile.

Fangirls got their priorities.

[identity profile] kazahayakudou.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I dunno if I would be able to decide who's my favorite character D: But I'm happy with UK winning (and poor Canada ;_;) and I'm also very happy with the choice of the chapter! This chapter is also one of my favorites and also very touching. ^^

DAMN RIGHT, HETALIA = LOVE :DDDDDDD

[identity profile] kohikki.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Awwww, Matthew didn't get any votes and Alfred only got 15th place?!
Wow, I thought Alfred would be more popular than that...

"There is also a poll for "Kanji that represents Hetalia the most" and I can't tell what the #1 is because it's in a picture form. And obviously web translators can't translate pics. Argh."

If I'm not wrong, the #1 is "love". Cute, isn't it? =3

[identity profile] fujiappletan.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm the page isn't showing up for me. >>

[identity profile] frappetique.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
lol @ 'Love'. Oh god the irony :'D.

If only world can understand that. And we will have no need of war and hatred.

SUCH A LACK OF SCANDINAVIAN LOVE TAT!! oh well, this was a really interesting poll! I'm suprised Germany was ranked so high and Russia and America weren't in the top 5... :O!

[identity profile] equivalent-t.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Al does have plenty of fans, it's just that for most of his fans, he's not No.1. XD;;; It'd be a very, very, very close shave for at least half of them, too, but he comes packaged with Arthur and Arthur wins most of the time, in the end.

[identity profile] equivalent-t.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I love how Germany and Russia are the only two semes in the top ten. XD Dear me, the Japanese do have their priorities straight, don't they? XD

[identity profile] equivalent-t.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Also, if this is straight for the books, it's not too surprising...

Matt only got ONE frame in the entire book, and America's most significant strips are with England. The book isn't very THERE yet. XD;

[identity profile] vitalregions.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Japan is just being TSUNDERE FOR EVERYBODY BUT UK AND ITSELF HIMSELF.

Japan, you love America and you know it.

And Finland! How does Sweden votes and Finland get none? Does not compute!

[identity profile] chinomi.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Sadly, if you are Canada or Finland or Estonia or Latvia or Sealand or Hungary or Egypt or someone else I am forgetting here you have no votes at all.

WHAT.

[identity profile] equivalent-t.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish I could look it up, but I left my copy halfway across the world. WORSE DECISION EVER. Maybe it's one of the book-webcomic crossover thing? I remember one where Matthew outcomplained Al into a depression *translating the Canada strips coughcough*. I pretty much don't remember how much old stuff went in there, actually. But then again, I can't *quite* remember what exactly went on in the Santa one either, so.

(I KNOW. Book 1 ended with That Nazi March, so the next one should have plot! Plot sweet plot! It's been hanging at the end of the Germany-Russia peace treaty for ages!)

[identity profile] gomimushi.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
OH HELL YEAH! ALL HAIL BRITANNIA! I feel so patriotic.

orz

Um. Um. Poor Sealand, and poor Canada-kun. D: lol

So cute. SO CUTE. they have a thing for tsunderes in Japan, don't they. xD hahaha, top two are tsundere, and Germany's rather tsundere-seme in a weird sort of way too .. ;;

[identity profile] tsuki-no-kani.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh? I didn't expect Feliks to be more popular than Liet. :O

And I'm disappointed but at the same time sort of not surprised that France didn't even make the top ten. Based on my experiences in other fandoms, he's the sort of character that appeals more to us perverted occidentals. :P

[identity profile] mumumugen.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh hoh. All hail Britannia indeed! I'm frankly surprised Alfred gets such small voting, I mean, considering he plays a pretty big role in the Favorite Strip ever. I weep for Hungary: her hubby got a relatively okay score, but what about her? Her titties can hear you. You hurt their feelings.

(P.S: I'm not surprised that Japan got so many votes, since the poll was made in Japan, but if it hadn't been, I'd wonder what criteria people use to measure their favorites, really. Looks? Personality? If it's the latter, then I don't get it, since Kiku Honda either has the personality of a wet tissue, or a vicious, unrepentant jerk...)

[identity profile] atlikarinca.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
B'AAAAAAAW HUNGARY AND EGYPT D8. THEY DO TOO DESERVE VOTES WHAT.

But hey, other than that the list is pretty good.

[identity profile] warpedbeing.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
.... *starts to laugh*

LOVINO WON AGAINST TURKEY.

AH-HAHAHA!

BITCH.

[identity profile] krissified.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Ohoh.
As for the "Kanji that represents Hetalia the most".
Number 01 is Love. 02 is Country, i can't read 03 and 04 (sorry), 05 is Smile.

[identity profile] krissified.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
orz; never mind someone already posted it.

[identity profile] tofubeast.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
AWWWWW ARTHUR.

Anyway, thanks for the news--it's very interesting.

[identity profile] zephyr-design.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
SPAIN IN SIXTH PLACE. I CANT BELIEVE IT. His fanstuff is unbeliaveable hard to find!! But I'm so happy tooooooo

[identity profile] equivalent-t.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Yep! Not counting the color pages (which actually does give the WW portions a weird poignancy), the thing began the same way the webcomic began, during WWI. It does deal with this part for a bit. And then it dealt with the pre-WWII era (seeing France's attack on Germany was a particularly nice touch), lifts off things from the webcomic that happened everywhere during WWII for some inexplicable reason...I suppose they wanted to introduce the Allied players, and you can't really do that until something's happened. There's people's favourite 'plot' segments (though these are weirdly placed, since a lot of the characters have nowhere near the development needed for it to kick the guts by the time they're inserted. Chibitalia, IIRC.) and random crack.

And then, at the very end, you get what I understand to be the Nazi march History Channel so loves to show between programs. France phones England that Germany's up to something, and UK responds with something to the effect of the war's finally starting. IIRC.

I hope that helps? XD It jumps around a LOT to please new fans and old fans and became a somewhat poorer book for it, IMO, though I still adore it to pieces.

[identity profile] rainy-takako.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
You should've just posted, lol. Their winning quotes are pretty awesome. Arthur's "I-I'm not happy at all!" SQUEE. ♥

[identity profile] rainy-takako.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Dear me, the Japanese do have their priorities straight, don't they?

THE JAPANESE ARE ALWAYS CLASSY LIKE THAT

[identity profile] rainy-takako.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
After finally getting my grubby paws on a copy, I can safely say IAWTC. All of it.

Especially this: ...though I still adore it to pieces.

[identity profile] windyshoot.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
I heard of a poll like this awhile ago, and predicted that Canada probably would be at the bottom or none existant.
Still, I like my country and Canadas character, so it makes me kinda sad. ;_;

The results are still pretty interesting! (Yay for Arthur and Italy~)

[identity profile] equivalent-t.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
At least it doesn't feel like the author's going down 'the German populace was totally ignorant about Hitler' route, judging from Ludwig's attitude. Though he likely didn't expect that...not that I know whether it's going to touch that part.

If it helps, we'll soon be releasing scanlated chapter 4? That should give you a decent idea of what the original plotplan was supposed to be, at least, and it's quite interesting. The ending sentence can be taken somewhat ominously, actually.

[identity profile] kyo-starr.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
I felt sad reading it too... even though Hetalia is a humorous series, I wish there were more serious stips like that.

Totally! Those are some of my favorites!

Interesting results... xD I wonder what the scores would be if a poll was done internationally, not including Japan...? We should have a popularity poll here on the LJ community :3

[identity profile] sushigal007.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
*waves a little Union Flag*
Go go Arthur!

[identity profile] kenichi-bokushi.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 02:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah ^_^ Though, there are some people here who can't read Japanese, so I thought I'd post the results so they could read it, too.

I think the quotes are pretty cool, too ^_^ Though, I was a bit surprised that Alfred was ranked lower, but as others have said before, usually he is interacting with characters who are more popular, so he doesn't really get a lot of chances to really stand out in his own right.

[identity profile] kenichi-bokushi.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I just couldn't resist saying this when I saw your icon:

In Soviet Russia, fork sticks YOU in an electrical outlet! ^_^

[identity profile] chitose-atsuko.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Spain is number 6 in the poll? *_* Wow, he has more votes than France XD

Tons of LOVE number one kanji XD for Spain <33

[identity profile] chitose-atsuko.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought exactly the same when I saw it. It's incredible *_*

[identity profile] tonomurajiro.livejournal.com 2008-10-10 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
*wibbles at the Kiku-chan's "a,ano...arigatou gozaimasu"*

Ahhh! how did I miss this?! >__>

[identity profile] deisv.livejournal.com 2008-11-28 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I wonder what Kiku's and Lugwigs comments about being int eh top 4 are x3

And I'm amazed Kiku wasn't #1, considering he's japan...but I guess Japanese really dig tsundere characters xD; <3

[identity profile] mitsukirox101.livejournal.com 2009-04-09 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
tsundere arthur won the whole thing? XDD yay him~

wtf not even hungary or finland got votes? wat is going on in here?! D:
