Italy : Huh, this street is always the best, you know.
Japan : I think this way too is great, also. Then, what is the next request... Hum...
Germany : Oh, the person himself is late... no, as I'm not mistaking, he's planning something to do at the destination.
Germany : Besides perhaps, he will come slowly ...
Italy : So the request is "Old Fritz and Prussia" !

I had some troubles with Germany's lines. Besides, I haven't studied the "-rarenai" from so I couldn't understand the last part of what he was saying. There's a subordonate with "ni" in the first sentence (the goal) that is probabaly misplaced.

[identity profile] umeko-pyon.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Here's some help with Germany's lines if you'd like. :3

First one: The person himself [I think "the person in question" would be better imo...] is late... No, I'm sure he must be scheming something, so let's run it before he gets here.
Second: Besides, once he gets here we probably won't be able to watch it in peace.

"-rareru" is the passive voice, so literally it's "we would become unable to watch in peace." Passive voice is frowned upon in English, though. XD

Also about those first two lines (Italy and Japan), Italy says, "The normal way is best" (referring to having his eyes closed rather than open). Not sure how to best word that. Maybe "having my eyes like this as usual is best"? Japan then comments that he thinks either way (opened or closed) is fine.

By the way, I haven't seen this reflected in the translations (though I've admittedly only skimmed them), but the 4-komas are presented as videos that the characters are watching/streaming. I've seen a few instances where, when the original Japanese indicates this, it's instead translated as "looking at images" or something.

Partial translation of below the strip :

Austria : the said guy bumped.
Germany : ... I was sorry
Italy : At this time
Germany :
Austria : Well, I'm evaluing this. It was something concerning the result the quality of my troops gave too.
Japan : I can say that Europe was also big, was it ?
Belarus : Hey Prussia, yeees ! The pride of big brother ! The fighting style of big brother !

I will try to improve this.

[identity profile] nodokaotonashi.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Crap, the part with Italy is hard to translate properly : it says something along the lines of the Prussian sentiment to be very ghastly.
Germany's line is talking about France...

[identity profile] ninjangel.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought I would try to translate the last bit of dialogue, if no one minds. I figured I need to practice my Japanese a little more...if something seems odd to anyone, please don't hesitate to fix it up or give advice. :D

Austria: <-- The one who suffered damage
Germany: ...I'm sorry.
Italy: Prussia around this time was really ghastly in a lot of ways, huh. The training of the Prussian army seemed really strict.
Germany: It seems like those tactics consisted of just strict order, leadership, mobility, and mutual cooperation. I heard that because of that France couldn't handle them.
Austria: ...Well, that's an estimation.** Because he was there my army was able to improve as well.
Japan: Europe has it hard, too.
Belarus: Eeh, Prussia is good! He's like Brother! He uses Brother's fighting style!**

Those with ** (Austria's first line and just about all of Belarus's) gave me a bit of trouble. The last bit of Germany's and the first of Italy's were also a little "eh...", but not as much.

[identity profile] umeko-pyon.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Belarus' line is, "Eeh, enough about Prussia! Show a video of Brother! Of Brother's fighting style!"

...since, as I mentioned in a comment at the top of the page, the 4-komas are presented as videos...

That's all that jumps out at me atm, but I may take a closer look later.

I hope you will all treat me well in 2012!

I wanted to make another kitty pun for the cat language part (something like kittenese) but I think I've done enough punning in my translation of Catalia. >_>

A little translation check would be much appreciated since I'm not too familiar with Japanese New Years customs.

A lass with a tomboy personality and a wide forehead.
She worked very hard during her teenage period.

Speaking of, in 'Rose of Versailles' I always used to think "What's with her?" when it came to Madame du Barry. I actually came to like her instead after seeing her life of excessive exuberance.

I could definitely use a translation check for Hima's last line since I've never read Rose of Versailles before and well I think I'm really off the mark for this one.

Can anyone typeset it for me? If no one's around, I'll do it.

Italy: Big Brother, do you have a minute?
But it's for the next request.

Romano: What is it, damn stupid little brother?

Italy: The person wants to see Big Brother in a different situation than usual.
That being the case, I'll broadcast this clip that I've brought

Romano: A different form than usual?
-----

Request "Romano Different Than Usual"

Prussia: Hey, I thought of this when I was watching you before, but you're a surprisingly hard worker.

Romano: Huh? I'm always a hard worker, you bastard.

Prussia: You've been restlessly working all over the place barefoot. You must need money.
Your salary is that low that you can't even buy shoes?
Handwritten part: barefoot

Romano: That's not the reason.
It's just that I use my money for more important things than shoes, dammit.

Prussia: The flow of time is so mysterious.

Germany: He's a guy who can do what he puts his mind to.

Romano: Gaah, you bastard...
---

Romano: What? Everyone knows that I've always been a hard worker, you bastard.
Ah, from then on, I couldn't help but feel gloomy that I got stuck associating with that bastard so many times, you bastard.

Italy: A Big Brother different than usual is good, too.

Japan: Yes, Romano is cool, isn't he?

Germany: German authors also are surprised at South Italy's prosperous commerce and Italians' work ethic and leave that unwritten.

Hungary: The urban areas were already busy and crowded, that was a noisy and interesting place.
The multicolored fruit and things brought in from around the world flew around so much it made my head spin.

Ladonia: Hey uncles, what are all of you waiting for?

Den: We’re waiting for the same person you’re waiting for!

Laddy: I already said Santa doesn’t exist!

Ice: Do I really look that old?

Den: Any ol’ kid like him would call us uncle, right?

Ice: …I do understand a little, but I can’t quite approve of it.

Nor: Don’t worry. I still think you’re a child.

Ice: That’s rather unpleasant in its own way.

Den: Still, you’re livin’ in a furniture store now, right? What’s it like?

Swe: …It’s very easy to do work and focus on my hobbies.

Den: Oh! That sounds pretty sweet! I think I’ll try livin’ in a house made o’ Legos sometime!

Laddy: You really are children you know that right, uncles? Swe’s friends sure are weird, especially since they still believe in Santa. Even Hatapedia says he’s a fictional character!

Den: Oh no, he’s comin’ all right!

Nor: He’ll come.

Swe: …Mm. He’s comin’.

Ice: He should be here any minute now.

Laddy: I won’t be tricked anymore! …? Huh?

Happy New Year from Hawai'i everyone! Let's make this year an excellent one together!

Text: What is your preferred way of drinking coffee?

Italy: Mine, of course, is cappuccino or espresso!
Neapolitan is also delicious.

Handwritten Near Italy: I can drink it anywhere!

Handwritten Near Romano: Hand it over fast, you bastard.

America: In the situation at my house, I often drink weak coffee, but I don't care that much about the flavor.

Handwritten Near America: If I drink it other than at my house, it's too mixed.

Austria: At my house, there are too many varieties of ways to drink it, so I can't choose.

Turkey: This is probably Turkish coffee!
Eh?

Greece: I think... it's Greek coffee...
Eh?

Turkey: Alright, you damn brat, it's wrestling time!

Greece: I accept your challenge... Come here...

Cyprus: It becomes this way over one cup of coffee.

Cyprus's Shirt: Cyprus

Italy:

Handwritten Near Italy: That's terrible.

Santa: Merry Christmas!

Denmark: Ah... yeah.
Ohh, that was good, lil' dude.

Ladonia's Thoughts: He really was Santa after all.
Sve wasn't lying...!

Sealand(?): Waah!

Sealand: Ladonia, that was good, huh?
Sea-kun had fun flying in the sleigh, too!

Ladonia: Why did you come back!? Ah, dammit! I hate you!
Pipsqueak bastard!

Sealand: What's wrong?
It's that I'm taller than you!

America: Isn't this strategy a little embarrassing?

???: You're so bashful!

America: There are things that embarrass even me.
