lol, poor Turkey. Keep telling yourself that. :)
Everyone, you're so fast for translating. ;__;
Hahaha... As a Turk I feel guilty for laughing but erm...
"They just don't get how good I'd be for them! Who needs the EU?" Sadly, this last sentence of Sadık's reflects the growing sentiments of the majority of the Turkish people nowadays about EU. Not because we are conceited and we feel superior to EU, but because of that DAMN LONG waiting which doesn't even seem to have an end soon.
And that looks like Pamukkale where he is standing in the last panel, look it up ^^.

Well the process can't even start again until the issue of Cyprus is resolved...
Thanks for scanlating ^^
Turkey, be strong!
Turkey, be strong!
I know why they won't let him in...he won't take off his mask. So no joining the EU sexy party. :(
Poor Turkey... here, I'll give some sweets ;3;!
Who's the other guy o.o'?
Who's the other guy o.o'?
Turkey still want's to join the EU, as do the other candidate nations.
The sea of cotton ? Pamukkale ? The site looks impressive (I just googled it, ignoring totally what it was, ehrm...).

That's the impression I got too.

Am I retarded today? Who's the other dude?
The main opinion is that the dude is Croatia, but this has yet to be confirmed.
The very touchy subject of Cyprus aside -since I can't speak about it without bias I am afraid, yes, it is related to what you said, too. It looks like our economy is going for the better and we are predicted to become world's 6th largest economy by 2030-ish if I'm not wrong. And we are watching with worry how the current crisis effected our neighbor Greece. Yes, the sentiment grew because of these economic problems.
But sadly again, some of the Turks -with their national feelings involved- think that EU is simply keeping Turkey at within an arm's reach without actually ever considering Turkey as a member of Europe. I can understand EU's concerns about Turkey. But Turkish people want EU to be simply honest and say "We'll never let you guys in." instead of hanging the proverbial carrot before them, telling them "What about a special partnership instead of membership?" Most of us go "Why is that?" I sometimes think if we are naieve or what.
This subject is a wank worthy one for our media and common people on the sites like forums/twitter/facebook. I guess most of us gave up on our EU dreams -not that everyone of us knows trully for what that dream entails-.

Oh, it is not the 6th largest economy, it is predicted to be the 10th. I wouldn't want to inform anyone wrong.
Yup, it actually means "cotton castle". We Turks have an interesting naming sense XD
Wow, thanks for the translation! ^3^
Who could be the other guy? Some random person? Or maybe Croatia ('cause that'd be the next country to join the EU)?!

I've immediately thought of Orhan Pamuk when I saw the name, to be honest.
... And suddenly I'm reminded of Prussia.
Perhaps they could be Together Alone?
They could hang out, eat Turkish Delights, drink Barenfang, and loudly proclaim that they don't need anyone and are totally awesome by themselves.
I... IDK.

I wouldn't put that much faith in those kind of predictions if I were you. Fifteen years ago Spain and Portugal were among the fastest growing economies in the world. Countries who have a lot of improvements to make tend to grow very fast but none can keep up that type of growth forever and if they can't adapt their administration and mentality to the new economy you get the problems you now have in Greece, Portugal and Spain, Turkey has a great opportunity to learn from our faults and prevent the same thing happening to them.
The reason why nobody says that is because hardly anyone thinks that. The official position of the majority of the countries in the EU is that Turkey can join when it meets the criteria. There are indeed people and political parties who think that Turkey should never join, but there are also those who say this about the eastern Europe countries, there were those who said it about Spain and Portugal, and France even once veto'd UK's entry into the Union.
But most of the countries feel that Turkey should eventually join. The only countries I have heard officially say the contrary is France (under Sarkozy, before him they were fine) and Germany who wants the special partnership you mentioned.

Ahah, gotta love this short strip :)
It's a long way to go for you, Turkey...

Aw, poor Turkey...
Just looked up Pamukkale and WOW! it looks pretty! It's like an outdoor cavern (some of the formations look like the ones I've seen at Carlsbad Caverns and Sonora Caverns here in the States).

My head!canon says that they already have a bromance goin' on, but sadly I don't think we've seen them have any sort of canon interaction... D:
